James Gunn Urges Fans to Watch ‘Superman’ in 3D
James Gunn is excited about people watching his new movie “Superman” in 3D. He even posted on his Threads account, saying, “Just saw the final version of ‘Superman’ in 3D and oh wow … just incredible to see. If you have a taste for 3D, this is a great way to see the film.”
Still, many people argue against watching movies in 3D. It can lower the quality of the picture and change how the movie was meant to look. Most movies, including “Superman,” aren’t actually filmed in 3D but are changed to 3D later.
This often makes the picture darker, the depth awkward, and the experience can feel fake. Because of this, watching “Superman” in 3D isn’t necessary and might even take away from how the movie was originally made.

Speaking of visual effects and the overall experience, many of the people who worked on the visual effects for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 came back to help with Superman.
The visual effects team includes Stéphane Ceretti as the supervisor. Companies like Framestore, Industrial Light & Magic (ILM), Wētā FX, and Rodeo FX worked on the effects.
Superman will be released in theaters by Warner Bros. Pictures. It will come out internationally on July 9, 2025, and in the United States and China on July 11, 2025. The movie will be shown in special formats like IMAX, RealD 3D, Dolby Cinema, ScreenX, and 4DX.
