Jensen Ackles Expresses Discontent With ‘The Boys’ Finale Ending Here’s Why

Jensen Ackles recently shared his thoughts on the conclusion of ‘The Boys’ following the show’s fifth season.

Ackles portrays Soldier Boy, a pivotal character intertwined with Homelander’s narrative. During discussions about the finale, he emphasized that his dissatisfaction stemmed not from the storytelling itself, but from the reality that the series is concluding.

“No because it’s ending, I want more. I want seasons 6, 7 and 8,” Ackles stated. “You’re talking to a guy that did 15 seasons of a show so I’m like ‘really 5 that’s it that’s all we’re getting, come on we can do more than that’”

His remarks were highlighted in an interview reported by THR. Ackles compared the brief run of ‘The Boys’ to his extensive tenure on ‘Supernatural’, where he spent many years as Dean Winchester. This long-standing experience with television made him feel that five seasons were simply too few.

Despite Ackles’ desire for more seasons, the narrative of the show has reached a natural conclusion. The season 5 finale concentrated on resolving major conflicts and completing the arcs of significant characters. Nonetheless, Soldier Boy’s fate was left ambiguous at the season’s end.

Soldier Boy does not feature in the final episode. Instead, the storyline leaves his destiny uncertain. Earlier episodes depict a fraught relationship with Homelander, culminating in a scene where Homelander restrains him and returns him to a frozen state. After that, the series does not clarify his whereabouts, prompting fans to speculate about his fate.

In the penultimate episode, Soldier Boy walks away from Homelander, who subsequently attacks him, leaving him unconscious. He is then returned to containment. By the time the final episode airs, he is absent, and his future remains unresolved.

Fans have been actively discussing this decision online. Some viewers appreciate that Soldier Boy’s conclusion is left open-ended, allowing for imagination. Others express frustration, wishing for a more definitive resolution for such a crucial character.
