Luxury fragrance brands rarely dive into pet care, but when they do, a compelling hook is essential to stand out in the competitive grooming market. The combination of a beloved perfume brand and a movie star with his equally famous dog proves to be just that.

Jo Malone London, the Estée Lauder-owned fragrance and lifestyle brand known for its exquisite colognes and scented candles, has ventured into a new category for the first time. The brand has recently launched its inaugural pet-care product, a shampoo specifically designed for dogs, departing from its usual perfume-focused offerings.

The new product, named Jo Malone London x WildWash Orange & Cedarwood Dog Shampoo, was developed in collaboration with British pet-care brand WildWash and was made available nationwide in the UK on September 1. The 285-milliliter bottle is priced at eighteen pounds and has already sold out following its debut, largely thanks to the star power behind its promotional campaign.

This shampoo features naturally derived orange and cedarwood essential oils, creating a refreshing lather that cleanses a dog’s coat while maintaining its natural oils for a healthy shine. Each bottle showcases one of four collectible illustrations of different dog breeds, with online shoppers receiving a randomly selected design, while in-store customers can choose their preferred illustration.

Céline Roux, Jo Malone London’s Global Head of Fragrance, shared insights about the collaboration with WildWash. “It’s important for us to open up new paths, to do new things. We did it with WildWash because they are the best, and the collaboration with Tom Hardy was just as natural,” she stated in an interview with NSS G-Club.

The launch campaign features actor Tom Hardy, a long-time ambassador for Jo Malone London who has previously appeared in the brand’s Cypress & Grapevine fragrance campaigns, alongside his French bulldog, Blue. In the commercial, Hardy humorously tries to convince a hesitant Blue that bath time is a good idea, adding a relatable touch that aligns perfectly with the brand’s polished image.

Blue has been a familiar face in Jo Malone London’s marketing, having appeared in previous campaigns with Hardy. This existing familiarity likely contributed to making the collaboration feel like a natural extension of the brand’s identity rather than just another celebrity endorsement.

For a brand primarily focused on personal fragrance, entering the dog grooming space marks a significant expansion for Jo Malone London. The shampoo maintains the brand’s commitment to natural ingredients and signature scent profiles that define its core offerings. Given the rapid sellout of the shampoo following its launch, the combination of luxury fragrance branding and Hardy’s undeniable star power seems to have paid off almost instantly.
