Kathryn Hahn’s portrayal of Agatha Harkness has quickly become a fan favorite in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. She first captivated audiences in ‘WandaVision’ and later starred in her own spin-off series, ‘Agatha All Along.’ The series concluded with a dramatic twist, where Agatha sacrificed herself to Death, played by Aubrey Plaza, in a bid to save Billy Maximoff.

However, Agatha’s demise was not permanent. By the end of the series, she returned in ghost form, serving as a spirit guide to Billy as they embarked on a quest to find his missing twin brother, Tommy. This unresolved storyline has sparked ongoing speculation about her future in the MCU.

Recent rumors suggest that Agatha may make an appearance in ‘Avengers: Secret Wars.’ Reports indicate that her role could be as a companion character, likely tied to Billy Maximoff’s involvement in the film. This would continue the mentor relationship established in the finale of ‘Agatha All Along.’

This theory aligns with how the series concluded. Since Agatha’s ghost is now linked to Billy, her potential appearance in ‘Secret Wars’ would depend on whether Billy is included in the film’s ensemble. Given his comic book history as a member of the Young Avengers, it’s a plausible scenario.

While Marvel Studios has not officially confirmed any casting rumors, reports vary on the reliability of the speculation. Some sources attribute it to unverified online scoopers, while others note that it fits into Marvel’s broader strategy to integrate various elements from its Disney+ series into the upcoming crossover event.

Hahn herself has expressed uncertainty regarding her involvement in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ or ‘Avengers: Secret Wars.’ When asked about it in an interview, she stated, “I don’t think so. I think I would know by now,” as reported by Collider.

This comment doesn’t completely rule out her return, especially considering Marvel’s notorious secrecy surrounding plot details, even from its stars. Nevertheless, it’s wise to manage expectations, as Hahn seemed genuinely unaware of any concrete plans at the time.

Despite the uncertainty, fans are eager for more Agatha content. Marvel executive Brad Winderbaum has previously indicated that the studio is interested in continuing her story, provided they find the right concept and timing. Hahn has also shown enthusiasm for reprising her role, calling her collaboration with ‘Agatha All Along’ creator Jac Schaeffer one of the most fulfilling experiences of her career.

This excitement extends to Agatha’s potential future within the franchise. With Wiccan positioned as a significant character in the MCU’s next multiversal event, Agatha’s established connection with him provides a natural narrative pathway for her return, whether in ‘Secret Wars’ or another project.

The Russo brothers are set to direct both ‘Avengers: Doomsday,’ releasing on December 18, and ‘Avengers: Secret Wars,’ which is currently scheduled for December 17, 2027. Given the scale of these films and Marvel’s tendency to keep major cameos under wraps, fans may not receive definitive confirmation about Agatha’s involvement until closer to the release date.

For now, the speculation remains just that, though Agatha’s popularity makes it easy to see why fans continue to hope for her return.
