Landing a role in the MCU is a significant milestone for any actor, and for Welsh newcomer Lauren Morais, ‘VisionQuest’ marks the biggest break of her career to date. The series premiered on Disney+ on Oct. 14, concluding the trilogy that began with ‘WandaVision’ and introducing her to Marvel fans globally.

Morais portrays Lisa Molinari, a character closely linked to Ruaridh Mollica’s Thomas Shepherd. Her previous TV credits include ‘Mudtown’, ‘The Red King’, and ‘The Crow Girl’, and she honed her craft at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama. Her casting was announced in November 2025, alongside comedian Diane Morgan.

Now that she’s officially part of the franchise, Morais has shared her favorite MCU characters: Agatha Harkness, Lady Death, Ms. Marvel, and E.D.I.T.H. Her selections lean heavily toward the mystical side of the MCU, creating an interesting connection to her own show.

Agatha Harkness, portrayed by Kathryn Hahn, was first introduced in ‘WandaVision’ as Wanda and Vision’s inquisitive neighbor Agnes before her true identity was unveiled. She later starred in ‘Agatha All Along’ in 2024, and her popularity led to her own series. In the comics, Agatha made her debut in ‘Fantastic Four’ #94 and is one of the original witches from the Salem witch trials.

Lady Death, played by Aubrey Plaza, made a significant entrance in ‘Agatha All Along’ and captured headlines everywhere. She was revealed as Agatha’s former lover and the embodiment of death itself. The character first appeared in Marvel Comics in 1973’s ‘Captain Marvel’ #26.

Ms. Marvel is a unique choice. Iman Vellani plays Kamala Khan, the first Muslim hero in the MCU, a superhero-obsessed teen navigating life in a Pakistani household in Jersey City. Her series brought one of the most energetic and youthful leads to the franchise.

E.D.I.T.H. is the choice that resonates most with Morais. Emily Hampshire voices the AI in ‘VisionQuest’, which reportedly gives one of Tony Stark’s most powerful creations an on-screen persona for the first time. This means Morais has named a character she now shares a cast list with.

It’s also noteworthy that two of her favorites, Agatha and Lady Death, originate from the same trilogy that ‘VisionQuest’ concludes. Her preferences indicate she is a genuine fan of the segment of the MCU she has now joined.

The eight-episode series was filmed at Pinewood Studios and is part of the MCU’s Phase Six. The first two episodes were released on Oct. 14, with the remaining six airing weekly through Nov. 11. The cast and creators also attended a U.K. premiere screening at the BFI London Film Festival, with the score composed by Emmy-winning Mick Giacchino.

In the storyline, Vision has been rebooted and is in hiding, searching for new meaning. He consults the AI personas embedded in his programming, including F.R.I.D.A.Y., E.D.I.T.H., J.A.R.V.I.S., and Ultron. A bounty on his head forces him to flee with Thomas Shepherd, a mysterious boy who may be Vision’s son reincarnated.

Reception has been mixed. A surprise screening at New York Comic Con received glowing initial reactions, while critics have been more divided. Variety’s review noted that the series struggles to connect emotionally, and another early review described it as a mixed bag heavy on MCU references, though some outlets praised its themes and performances.

Showrunner Terry Matalas has expressed his admiration for ‘WandaVision’, having watched every episode twice before taking on the project. Jac Schaeffer, who created ‘WandaVision’ and ‘Agatha All Along’, remains an executive producer.

For Morais, the series represents a significant advancement and a first taste of the franchise she clearly adores. If her favorites are any indication, she’s already thinking like a Marvel fan.
