‘LEGO One Piece’ Netflix Special Release Date and New Artwork Revealed
Netflix has been busy in 2026 surrounding the Straw Hat Pirates with excitement. The live-action ‘One Piece’ returned for its second season in March, LEGO’s toy line continues to expand, and a new anime remake is already on the horizon. The ‘LEGO One Piece’ Netflix special ties all these elements together with a playful twist.
This special is set to deliver more humor than your typical franchise spin-off. Announced in April, Netflix has embraced the silliness in its marketing efforts. With trailers, cast reveals, and a fresh wave of artwork, anticipation is building for the premiere, which is just days away.

The latest promotional material was released on Wednesday, featuring a new set of posters that confirm the series will debut next week. One poster showcases Luffy, in LEGO form, sitting atop a mountain of food, holding a drumstick in each hand with a comically swollen stomach. The tagline reads “Building up more than an appetite,” and it announces the project as a Netflix Limited Series arriving on September 29.
Another poster presents Sanji in an upside-down handstand, balancing a tower of plates filled with fish, meat, and vegetables, with little hearts floating around him. This serves as a fitting homage to the crew’s chef and hints at the special’s focus on the food-loving aspects of the franchise.
The narrative centers on a narrator who may not be entirely reliable. Usopp recounts the crew’s adventures to Tony Tony Chopper just before Chopper joins the Straw Hats, embellishing his own role in the stories. In the trailer, he claims credit for defeating Arlong and Alvida single-handedly, asserting that the quest for the One Piece was his idea from the start.
The other crew members frequently interrupt to correct him, creating a built-in comedic dynamic. The story retells events from the first two seasons of the live-action series, making it a recap for long-time fans while also serving as an accessible entry point for newcomers. It integrates seamlessly into the live-action universe.

The voice cast mirrors that of the live-action series, featuring Iñaki Godoy as Luffy, Emily Rudd as Nami, Mackenyu as Zoro, Jacob Romero Gibson as Usopp, Taz Skylar as Sanji, and Mikaela Hoover as Chopper. Jeff Ward reprises his role as Buggy the Clown, while Katey Sagal, Callum Kerr, and Charithra Chandran return as Dr. Kureha, Smoker, and Vivi.
Showrunner Tom Hyndman noted that having the returning cast made recording sessions smoother, as the actors are already familiar with their characters. This familiarity led to spontaneous moments that made it into the final episodes.
Produced by Vancouver-based Atomic Cartoons in collaboration with the LEGO Group and publisher Shueisha, the special is directed by Chelsea Ker. ‘One Piece’ creator Eiichiro Oda serves as an executive producer.
The special arrives following a busy period for the franchise. LEGO’s first wave of ‘One Piece’ sets launched on August 1, 2025, marking the toymaker’s first anime-inspired builds. A second wave followed this year, introducing sets like Garp’s Marine Battleship and collectible Baroque Works dossiers.
Season 2 of the live-action series, ‘Into the Grand Line,’ premiered in March and amassed over 320 million hours of viewing. A third season, ‘The Battle of Alabasta,’ has been confirmed, and the new anime adaptation ‘The One Piece’ is set to debut in February 2027.
This context highlights the significance of the ‘LEGO One Piece’ posters beyond the food humor. Netflix is positioning the special as another entry point into a franchise it is clearly committed to developing for the long term. If the early promotions are any indication, the tone will be light-hearted, self-aware, and filled with in-jokes.
