LEGO Unveils New ‘E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial’ Set for Fans and Collectors

Fans of classic science fiction films now have a fresh reason to celebrate one of cinema’s most cherished extraterrestrials. LEGO has officially launched a new LEGO Ideas set inspired by ‘E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial’, allowing collectors to construct and showcase their own version of the iconic alien from Steven Spielberg’s 1982 classic.

This new set is tailored for adult builders and emphasizes the intricate details that made E.T. such a memorable character. LEGO has crafted the figure to capture the alien’s distinctive appearance, featuring his large eyes, intricately designed face, and unique body shape. The model aims to honor one of the most legendary characters in science fiction.

The LEGO Ideas ‘E.T.’ set comprises 1,226 pieces, resulting in a display figure that stands over 9.5 inches tall. The completed model measures approximately 8.5 inches wide and 6 inches deep, making it a perfect standout piece for any shelf or desk.

One of the standout features of this set is its mobility. LEGO states that builders can adjust E.T.’s head by moving it up and down or rotating it fully. The figure also boasts adjustable arms, wrists, and fingers, enabling fans to recreate some of the alien’s most iconic poses from the film.

Additionally, the set captures one of E.T.’s most memorable moments. Builders can position the alien’s finger in the iconic “phone home” gesture, a nod to the line that has become a part of cinematic history. The figure can also hold a small pot of LEGO sunflowers, reminiscent of the scene where E.T. revives flowers.

Another exciting feature is the built-in light function. LEGO has included a switch on the back of the model that activates a light brick, making E.T.’s heart glow just as it did in the original film. This addition enhances the nostalgia for fans who grew up with the movie.

LEGO notes that this set was developed as part of its LEGO Ideas collection, a series where fan-submitted designs are selected for official production. This initiative allows builders worldwide to transform their concepts into actual LEGO products with support from the community.

The company emphasizes that the set comes with comprehensive building instructions suitable for both seasoned LEGO enthusiasts and those attempting an advanced build for the first time. Builders can also utilize the LEGO Builder app, which features 3D instructions that enable users to zoom in, rotate the model, and monitor their progress.

For collectors of movie memorabilia, the ‘E.T.’ set is more than just a building project. LEGO describes it as a nostalgic gift for science fiction fans and anyone seeking a piece of one of the most iconic films from the 1980s.

With its intricate design, movable parts, and glowing heart feature, the new LEGO ‘E.T.’ figure brings a classic character into the realm of modern collectibles while preserving the essence of Spielberg’s original film.
