Lily Collins Steps Into Audrey Hepburn’s Iconic Heels for ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s’ Making-Of Movie
Lily Collins has landed an exciting new role that pays homage to one of cinema’s greatest icons. She will portray Audrey Hepburn in an upcoming film that dives into the behind-the-scenes story of the 1961 classic ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s’. This project is not a remake of the beloved romantic comedy but rather a look at how the original movie came to life amid challenges and creative tensions. Collins is also stepping up as a producer on the film through her company Case Study Films.
The story draws from Sam Wasson’s book ‘Fifth Avenue, 5 A.M.: Audrey Hepburn, Breakfast at Tiffany’s and the Dawn of the Modern Woman’. That nonfiction work explores the making of the film adapted from Truman Capote’s novella. It covers everything from casting debates to on-set incidents that shaped the final product. Capote originally wanted Marilyn Monroe for the lead role of Holly Golightly and felt betrayed when Paramount Pictures chose Hepburn instead. The new movie will highlight those real-life conflicts along with contributions from director Blake Edwards and legendary costume designer Edith Head.
Lily Collins expressed her deep excitement about the opportunity. She shared on social media that after nearly ten years of development and a lifetime of admiration for Audrey Hepburn the moment has finally arrived. She described feeling honored and ecstatic in ways that words can barely capture. Known for her work in ‘Emily in Paris’ which continues with a sixth season renewal Collins has often drawn comparisons to Hepburn’s elegant style and grace. Her previous roles in films like ‘Rules Don’t Apply’ and ‘Mank’ show her range in period pieces and dramatic storytelling.
Alena Smith who created the Apple TV+ series ‘Dickinson’ is writing the screenplay. Imagine Entertainment is backing the project with Brian Grazer among the producers and additional support from other companies including producer Scott LaStaiti. No director has been announced yet and casting for other key figures remains under wraps. The film promises to reveal intriguing details such as a risky moment filmed near the iconic Tiffany & Co. flagship store in New York City.
This biopic-style approach offers fans a fresh perspective on a movie that forever influenced fashion film and popular culture. It spotlights how Hepburn’s performance as the free-spirited Holly Golightly turned her into a timeless symbol despite the behind-the-scenes hurdles. The project celebrates the legacy of the original while giving Collins a chance to channel one of her lifelong inspirations.
