Paris Fashion Week has showcased numerous familiar faces this season, but few have sparked as much buzz as a model who had taken a step back from the runway. Miranda Kerr, the Australian supermodel and entrepreneur, has dedicated recent years to her skincare brand and family, making her appearance at a prominent show on Wednesday feel like a significant event.

Kerr began her modeling journey as a teenager, gaining international fame as one of the original Victoria’s Secret Angels. She was the first Australian to join the Angels and has also established the organic skincare line Kora Organics. In recent years, she had largely stepped away from modeling.

On September 30, Kerr graced the Stella McCartney Womenswear Spring/Summer 2027 show during Paris Fashion Week, marking her first runway appearance in nearly a decade. The 43-year-old model’s last runway show was the Moschino Spring/Summer 2018 menswear and women’s resort show at Milk Studios in Los Angeles back in June 2017. Page Six described it as a surprise return, with the post garnering over 10,000 views on X.

This appearance also felt like a homecoming. It was Kerr’s third time walking for McCartney, having previously appeared in October 2011 and September 2013. Her return followed an appearance at the Dior show the day prior.

Kerr donned a seafoam green jersey gown featuring a knotted waist, cutouts, oversized padded shoulders, and a ruched column skirt. In keeping with the collection’s marine theme, the back of the dress showcased shell-like ruching at the top. She completed her look with metallic silver sandals and a small silver clutch, opting for a braided ponytail and minimal makeup.

The dress aligned perfectly with the collection’s concept. Kerr and fellow model Karlie Kloss walked in designs that echoed waves and water, with shapes that blended drapery and sculpted construction. The combination of structured shoulders and fluid fabric was a recurring theme throughout the show.

The weather added to the spectacle, as the show unfolded on a rain-soaked runway in the British ambassador’s gardens in Paris, with an under-the-sea theme that matched the downpour. Jennifer Lopez was spotted in the front row, sharing an umbrella with Juliette Binoche.

This show also commemorated 25 years since McCartney’s inaugural Paris show, with the designer using the occasion to address industrial fishing. Her brand has consistently avoided leather, fur, or feathers. The color palette featured seafoam, sage, coral, blush, and chocolate, with dolphins airbrushed on T-shirts, hems tracing the curl of a Hokusai wave, and evening gowns reminiscent of Madame Grès’s draping.

Kerr was not the only seasoned model on the runway. Karlie Kloss and Amber Valletta also participated, while the guest list included Taylor Hill, Kelsea Ballerini, Sabrina Elba, Kat Graham, Amy Jackson, Natalia Bryant, and Valentina Ferrer. The presence of Kloss and Kerr, both Victoria’s Secret alumni, added a nostalgic touch to the lineup.

Their participation suggests that McCartney’s show emphasized experience alongside spectacle. The designer has long embraced a diverse casting approach, making her anniversary feel personal rather than merely retrospective. Fans online quickly praised the unexpected cameo, and Kerr’s return has been a hot topic since the initial photos surfaced.

While Kerr’s return is significant, it does not necessarily indicate a full comeback. As a mother of four, sharing son Flynn with ex-husband Orlando Bloom and sons Hart, Miles, and Pierre with husband Evan Spiegel, her participation in a single show for a familiar designer aligns with her pattern of selective appearances.

Nonetheless, a runway return after nearly a decade is remarkable in an industry that values novelty. For Kerr, it was an opportunity to revisit a runway she knows well, showcasing a design that celebrated sustainability. Whether she will walk again this season remains uncertain.
