‘Love in Disguise’ Release Date, Cast, Plot, and Trailer Information for Prime Video’s 2026 K-Drama
Global streaming platforms are increasingly adjusting their international content strategies, focusing more on South Korean productions that resonate with diverse audiences worldwide. Major services are on the lookout for high-concept programming that combines gripping narratives with lighthearted character interactions. As competition heats up in the streaming arena, viewers are showing a strong desire for stories that reinvent classic narrative structures.
Among these popular formats, few have garnered as much international appeal as the high-stakes workplace romantic comedy infused with elements of mystery. When unexpected thriller components meet heightened workplace absurdities, audiences enjoy a captivating mix of suspense and humor. This rich narrative formula sets the stage for one of the most anticipated international releases of the season.
Introducing ‘Love in Disguise’, an exciting Korean drama series set to premiere globally on Prime Video on October 19, 2026, coinciding with its domestic airing on tvN. Originally developed under the working title ‘My Guilty Human’, the series comprises 12 episodes that will air weekly every Monday and Tuesday. Prime Video will distribute the show across more than 240 countries and territories, further enhancing its growing collection of marquee Asian scripted dramas.
Adapted from the popular Kakao web novel ‘Why You Don’t Know It’s a Girl?’ by Lee A-yeon and Ryu Do-ha, the series delves into the tumultuous world of high-stakes corporate succession. The narrative centers around Yoon Yi-jun, a perfectionist and arrogant third-generation chaebol heir to the influential Taegang Group. His meticulously crafted life unravels overnight when he becomes the prime suspect in the sudden death of his personal secretary.

To uncover the truth behind the murder, detective Kang Jae-hee embarks on a risky undercover investigation within Yi-jun’s circle. A decorated former special forces operative known for her exceptional combat skills, Jae-hee learns that Yi-jun is looking for an executive secretary and bodyguard exclusively for male applicants. Utilizing her athletic build, she disguises herself as a man to infiltrate his security team.
This disguise creates ongoing comedic tension and physical closeness, leading to a confusing attraction between the employer and bodyguard. Preparing for this challenging gender-bender role required significant physical and psychological preparation, as star Seol In-ah shared in an interview with Soompi. “Rather than ‘acting like a man,’ I prepared by focusing on ‘what it would look like if Kang Jae Hee were to disguise herself as a man,’” she explained about her approach.
Leading the cast as Yoon Yi-jun is renowned actor Yim Si-wan, celebrated globally for his transformative performances in ‘Squid Game’ and ‘Run On’. Opposite him, Seol In-ah brings her dynamic presence from ‘Business Proposal’ to portray Jae-hee’s sharp martial arts skills and vulnerable side. Their chemistry oscillates between a gripping investigative journey and a complicated workplace romance.
Yi-jun’s emotional isolation serves as a key theme during development, which Yim discussed while exploring the character’s deep loneliness and defensive nature. “Aside from the fact that he is wealthy, I think he is deprived in many ways,” Yim told FirstClasse Malaysia regarding Yi-jun’s hidden struggles. “He’s thirsty for love, both love for humanity and connection with others, and I think he’s really struggling to protect himself.”
The male disguise also led to amusing moments during filming. Seol recounted an incident where she accidentally walked into a public women’s restroom while still dressed in her male attire, causing confusion among startled patrons. Beyond the lead duo, Kim Jung-hyun plays corporate lawyer Kim Si-hyun, while Yeonwoo portrays the enigmatic executive secretary Lee Hye-jung, adding an intriguing secondary romantic storyline.
On the creative side, the series is directed by Park Dan-hee, who previously showcased stylish visual storytelling in ‘Weak Hero Class 1’, alongside screenwriter Moon Soo-jung. Together with CJ ENM Studios and Pitapat Studio, the creative team dedicated three months to extensive table readings to fine-tune the show’s intricate tone. The narrative balances three essential elements: sharp thriller aspects, authentic romantic chemistry, and hilarious workplace misunderstandings.
Promotional teasers released by Prime Video highlight Jae-hee subduing adversaries with martial arts before donning tailored suits to secure a position with Yi-jun. Subsequent scenes depict humorous blunders, such as accidentally walking in on Yi-jun while he changes, before transitioning to high-stakes moments where Yi-jun confronts her in private. With sharp dialogue and genuine corporate peril, ‘Love in Disguise’ offers an irresistible mix of intrigue and romance.
