‘Lupin the IIIrd The Movie: Fujimi no Ketsuzoku’ Releases Trailer, Reveals New Information

You might now know that the Lupin III franchise began a long time ago, when Monkey Punch started serializing the titular manga back in 1967. Since then, the series turned into one of Japan’s most famous and recognizable animanga franchises of all time.
In 1978, the first anime movie adaptation – Lupin III: The Mystery of Mamo – was released, and a year later, even Hayao Miyazaki contributed to the franchise with the classic Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro.
This year will see a new Lupin III movie released – Lupin the IIIrd The Movie: Fujimi no Ketsuzoku (Immortal Bloodline) – and the producers have just released a ton of new information, including a trailer for the movie.
Lupin the IIIrd The Movie: Fujimi no Ketsuzoku will be a return to the franchise’s 2D roots and it seems that it is going to be a refreshing take. The movie is set to be released on June 27 in Japan. Here is the trailer:
The trailer confirms that the theme song will be “The IIIRD Eye” by rock band B’z, and we can also confirm that Takeshi Koike (Lupin III: The Woman Called Fujiko Mine, Lupin the IIIrd: Jigen’s Gravestone, Lupin the IIIrd: Goemon’s Blood Spray, Lupin the IIIrd: Fujiko Mine’s Lie) is coming back to direct the film, with Telecom Animation Film producing.
Yūya Takahashi (Lupin the IIIrd: Jigen’s Gravestone, Lupin the IIIrd: Goemon’s Blood Spray, Lupin the IIIrd: Fujiko Mine’s Lie, Lupin the 3rd Part 6) is also returning as the screenwriter. James Shimoji will compose the music and is, along with creative adviser Katsuhito Ishii, another returning name.
