Mckenna Grace Shines at Target Beauty Studio Launch Event
Retail launches typically don’t resemble red carpet events, yet brands are increasingly leveraging celebrity appearances to transform standard store openings into memorable cultural experiences. Target’s latest beauty initiative exemplifies this strategy effectively.
In recent weeks, the retailer has been unveiling a revamped beauty concept aimed at creating a more curated shopping experience, moving away from the traditional big-box feel. To celebrate this launch, Target enlisted star power to help promote the new offerings.

Actress and singer Mckenna Grace graced the Target Beauty Studio Celebration Event, posing alongside the brand’s vibrant red Beauty Studio backdrop and in various areas of the celebration, with Getty photographer Presley Ann capturing her moments among the new displays.
This event was closely tied to the nationwide launch of Target Beauty Studio, which officially debuted on September 10 across over 600 stores and on Target.com. This new concept fills the void left by Target’s previous partnership with Ulta Beauty, which ended in 2021.

Target Beauty Studio features over 1,600 products from 90 brands, with more than two-thirds of these names being new to Target’s shelves. The lineup includes both prestigious and trendy indie labels such as Dyson, Sunday Riley, St. Tropez, and Boy Smells, as well as products from Ariana Grande, SARELLY, Glamazon Beauty, and Tula Skincare.
Customers exploring the new spaces can expect dedicated Beauty Advisors in signature uniforms, hands-on product testing for select items, and a curated selection of mini products designed for easy discovery. The in-store celebrations took place nationwide on Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. local time, with the first 100 guests at most locations receiving a Target Circle bonus.

Amanda Nusz, Target’s senior vice president of merchandising, essentials, and beauty, described the new concept as a response to how shoppers prefer to browse. “When guests shop for beauty, they want to pick up their standbys while also exploring what’s new and trending, and Target Beauty Studio is designed with that mix in mind,” she stated in a report by Retail Dive.
She emphasized that the space aims to be an inspiring destination for discovering the latest in beauty, showcasing how the retailer’s merchandising prowess translates into an enhanced shopping experience. This aligns with recent positive trends in the category, as Target’s latest quarterly earnings revealed beauty sales rising by about 7%, surpassing the overall merchandise growth of 5%.
For Grace, this appearance comes during a particularly busy period in her career. Her supernatural thriller ‘The Last Kiss,’ directed by Yoko Okumura, became available on digital platforms on September 15, featuring Grace as a character cursed with the ability to foresee death through kisses.
Additionally, she has been expanding her music catalog. Grace released her new single ‘Bones and All’ on September 25, following her June comeback with ‘Ugly and Rotten,’ marking her first solo single in over two years, with the newer track reportedly inspired by her deep dive into the film of the same name.
Between franchise blockbusters, streaming originals, and now a high-profile retail event linked to one of the year’s significant beauty relaunches, Grace remains a prominent figure across various facets of pop culture. Her appearance provided a lighter, brand-focused moment amid an otherwise busy year filled with film, television, and music commitments.
For Target, pairing a well-known young star with its beauty relaunch underscores the seriousness with which the company is approaching this category shift. Whether this strategy will lead to sustained foot traffic beyond the opening weekend will become clearer as more Beauty Studio locations are introduced.
