Meet the Cast of ‘Paris Is Always a Good Idea’ Streaming on Hallmark+
Hallmark+ has been expanding its lineup of globe-trotting romances, and its latest offering elevates that concept with greater ambition. Instead of confining its narrative to a single picturesque town, the streamer’s newest limited series takes its lead character across three different countries in search of old love and new purpose, giving the network’s cast list a distinctly international flavor this time around.
The series, ‘Paris Is Always a Good Idea,’ marks Hallmark’s inaugural limited series and is based on the bestselling novel by Jenn McKinlay. This six-episode story follows career-driven nonprofit executive Chelsea Martin as she travels to Paris to secure a major donation, only to find herself on an unexpected journey across Ireland, Spain, and beyond to reconnect with three significant loves from her past.
At the heart of this journey is Lacey Chabert, who portrays Chelsea and has become a staple at Hallmark after appearing in over 40 of the network’s films. Chabert’s onscreen romantic interests this time include Scott Michael Foster, who plays Jason Knightly, Chelsea’s confident rival-turned-ally who joins her on the Paris trip that kicks off the story.
Rebecca Hanssen, known for her role in ‘The Witcher,’ plays Annabelle, Chelsea’s younger sister. Annabelle’s encouragement, following a heartfelt message from their late mother, is what motivates Chelsea to revisit her past relationships. Henry Czerny, recognized for his performances in ‘Revenge’ and ‘Ready or Not,’ plays Chelsea’s father, adding emotional depth to the family dynamics driving the narrative.
Barbara Niven, a familiar face to longtime Hallmark fans from ‘Chesapeake Shores,’ also joins the cast, continuing the trend of returning talent that has become a hallmark of the network. The ensemble is rounded out by Stephen Hagan, Julien Marlon Samani, and Alejandro Albarracín, who portray the three men from Chelsea’s past, each representing a different chapter of her romantic history across the show’s European settings.
Filming across multiple European countries clearly left a lasting impression on the cast beyond just their work. In a conversation with PauseRewind’s Elizabeth Stanton, Czerny shared one of his favorite souvenirs from the trip, a painting he discovered along the Seine. He described it as “almost abstract, but not quite,” with colors and shapes he found fantastic.
The same conversation revealed a lighter side to the production, with Foster and Chabert both picking up personalized hairbrushes from a quaint Paris shop. Hanssen also mentioned that Chabert’s enthusiasm for shopping led her to collect several neckties of her own. These small details illustrate a cast that genuinely enjoyed each other’s company while filming across three diverse countries.
‘Paris Is Always a Good Idea’ is now streaming on Hallmark+, featuring episodes like “Absolutely Devoted to You,” “Toast to Italy,” and “The Way Home,” which continue Chelsea’s journey across Europe. For fans of Hallmark’s typical small-town romances, the show’s international scope and limited-series format represent a notable departure from the network’s usual offerings.
With stunning backdrops and a cast clearly enjoying their time both on and off camera, ‘Paris Is Always a Good Idea’ is set to become one of Hallmark+’s standout offerings this year.
