Millie Bobby Brown has shared her experiences following the conclusion of ‘Stranger Things’, revealing the emotional challenges she faced after the series wrapped. She expressed feelings of sadness and concern about maintaining connections with her castmates.

During a live recording of the Happy Sad Confused podcast at 92NY, Brown discussed her emotional journey after filming the beloved Netflix series that had been a significant part of her life for over a decade.

In the interview, the actress admitted to struggling emotionally once the show concluded. While fans were focused on the fate of her character Eleven, Brown found the farewell to the series to be much more difficult than she anticipated.

“I went into a little bit of a slight, slight depression,” she shared. “It was very hard for me. I would not have expected that coming off of the show. I’m a very happy-go-lucky person.”

Brown revealed that she spent much of January reaching out to her ‘Stranger Things’ co-stars. After a decade of working together, she wanted to ensure there were no lingering bad feelings and that their friendships would endure beyond the show’s end.

“They probably thought I was crazy,” she joked. “I was like, ‘We’re still friends, right? Like, you’re not gonna stop talking to me anymore?’ I was like, ‘I’m sorry if I ever upset you,’ and was just trying to mend anything.”

The actress expressed a deep bond with her castmates, as they had grown up together. Starting the show at just 10 years old, many of her pivotal life moments occurred alongside her co-stars.

“It’s been 10 years, and I really want to be friends. You’re my sibling,” she recalled telling them. Brown also shared a poignant memory from that time, describing a moment on the beach when the reality of the show’s ending hit her. “I just sat there crying. It was a very hard time for me,” she said.

Brown believes that many people may not fully grasp the significance of the experience, as ‘Stranger Things’ was integral to her childhood and teenage years.

“I started the show when I was 10, and this character was me, and these people were in my life more than my own family,” she explained. “I saw these people more than going home and eating dinner with my family.”

She mentioned that parting ways with Eleven was one of the most challenging aspects of the experience. “Saying goodbye to that after 10 years was a very, very emotional thing, and I’m going to miss Eleven more than anything.”

During the same discussion, Brown was asked about Eleven’s fate after the ‘Stranger Things’ finale. According to Brown, she is also not privy to the details. She mentioned that the Duffer Brothers, the show’s creators, instructed her to keep the ending a secret.

“Do not tell anyone. Because we made it a secret kind of pledge,” she recounted. While fans speculate about whether Eleven survived, Brown remains optimistic.

“All people say now is, ‘Do you believe?’ And of course I believe. I have to believe, honestly — otherwise January will come around again.”

For Brown, the most significant challenge was not the mystery surrounding Eleven but rather moving on from a decade-long chapter of her life and bidding farewell to those who became her second family.
