Jennifer Holland is already singing the praises of James Gunn’s upcoming DC Universe film ‘Man of Tomorrow’, describing it as one of the director’s most impressive works to date. The ‘Peacemaker’ star shared that she has viewed a significant portion of the eagerly awaited Superman sequel and believes fans are in for a treat.

‘Man of Tomorrow’ will pick up the story of Superman following the events of Gunn’s initial DCU film. David Corenswet will reprise his role as Clark Kent/Superman, while Nicholas Hoult returns as Lex Luthor. The movie will unite these two iconic adversaries as they confront a greater threat in Brainiac, portrayed by Lars Eidinger.

The film is set to broaden the new DC Universe by introducing several familiar heroes. Milly Alcock’s Supergirl is anticipated to make an appearance, further intertwining the franchise’s characters and narratives. The cast also features Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner’s Green Lantern, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, and Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen.

Holland, who plays Emilia Harcourt in the DC Universe, recently discussed her enthusiasm for Gunn’s next project with GamesRadar+ during a screening of ‘Supergirl’. Although ‘Man of Tomorrow’ is still in production and not yet finished, Holland has seen enough footage to form a strong impression.

According to Holland, the sequel represents a significant advancement for Gunn and the DC franchise. She hinted that it might even become her favorite project from the director. “I can tell you that I have seen an enormous, enormous portion of the movie, and I am so excited for ‘Man of Tomorrow’,” Holland expressed.

She added, “It might be James’s best… my favorite movie of James, and I haven’t even seen the whole thing yet. I’m just… I love the movie.” The actress elaborated that the film feels larger and more ambitious compared to Gunn’s previous DC endeavors.

“It feels like a step up to me in a lot of ways. I’m excited for people to see it, and he’s not done filming it yet,” Holland added.

Gunn has already achieved success with his DC projects, particularly through the HBO Max series ‘Peacemaker’, where Holland became an integral part of the ensemble. Her character Emilia Harcourt first appeared in ‘The Suicide Squad’ before becoming one of Amanda Waller’s trusted agents in the series.

‘Peacemaker’ also features John Cena as Christopher Smith, alongside Danielle Brooks as Leota Adebayo, Freddie Stroma as Vigilante, Steve Agee as John Economos, Robert Patrick as Auggie Smith, and Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr.

While Holland has expressed high hopes for ‘Man of Tomorrow’, it remains uncertain whether Harcourt will make an appearance in the film. The DCU has been gradually establishing connections between its films and television series, leaving room for unexpected cameos.

For now, fans will have to wait to see if Gunn’s latest superhero venture lives up to Holland’s enthusiastic endorsement. ‘Man of Tomorrow’ is set to hit theaters on July 9, 2027, and anticipation is already building for the next chapter in Superman’s saga.
