RJ Cyler Shows Strong Interest in Playing Static Shock in the DC Universe: “James I got you! I have it, brother”

RJ Cyler recently made it clear: he really wants to play Static Shock in the DC Universe. In a casual and confident mood, he explained that growing out his dreadlocks was part of preparing for the role.
He didn’t hold back when speaking, saying, “Hell yeah! The reason why I grew my dreadlocks out is to play that role. Literally. James [Gunn], I got you! I have it, brother, I can do this.” His enthusiasm was obvious, as he basically laid it all out: he’s ready and eager.
Static Shock is a superhero from DC Comics. His real name is Virgil Hawkins. He’s a smart teenager who gets special powers after an accident. That accident gives him the ability to control electricity.
With his new powers, Virgil becomes Static. He can shoot lightning, fly on a metal disc, and even use electricity to move things. He uses these powers to fight crime and help people in his city.
Static became really popular because of the Static Shock cartoon show that came out in the early 2000s. A lot of fans still love the character today because he’s fun, clever, and always tries to do the right thing, even when things get tough.
He’s also one of the few well-known Black teenage superheroes in comics, which makes him an important character for a lot of people.
RJ Cyler might be a great fit for the role, though the only real concern is his age, since Static Shock is usually shown as a teenager or someone close to it.
We still don’t know if the character will be part of James Gunn’s new DCU, but given Gunn’s love for bringing lesser-known characters to the spotlight, there’s definitely reason to hope.
