Robert Downey Jr. Shares New Doctor Doom Artwork for ‘Avengers: Endgame’ Re-Release
Seven years after ‘Avengers: Endgame’ wrapped up the Infinity Saga, Marvel is enticing fans to return to theaters ahead of the next chapter. The 2019 blockbuster is making a comeback with a fresh title and additional footage to rekindle excitement for what lies ahead.
The upcoming installment is ‘Avengers: Doomsday,’ featuring Robert Downey Jr. as the villainous Victor Von Doom, marking his return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. As the December premiere approaches, Marvel has been unveiling teasers, concept art, and cast announcements to keep the buzz alive.
Now, Downey is joining the promotional efforts with a humorous touch. He recently posted new official artwork of Doctor Doom on Instagram to celebrate the theatrical release of ‘Avengers: Endgame Encore,’ and his caption sparked excitement among fans.
“Very Well. Doom shall attend, but there will be no sharing of snacks,” Downey quipped alongside the image.
The artwork features Victor Von Doom in a theater seat, fully decked out for a movie night. He holds a popcorn bucket styled like the Nano Gauntlet from ‘Endgame,’ complete with Infinity Stones, while balancing a soda in his other hand. Surrounding him are Goobers, Junior Mints, Dots, and a giant pretzel, along with a couple of ticket stubs.
The post quickly gained traction, amassing nearly 600,000 likes within its first hour, as reported by Cosmic Book News. Even the Russo brothers joined in on the fun, jokingly asking in the comments about the missing Raisinets.
‘Avengers: Endgame Encore’ is more than just a nostalgia trip. The re-release includes approximately four extra minutes of footage directly linked to the story of ‘Avengers: Doomsday,’ providing fans with a compelling reason to revisit the record-breaking film before its sequel arrives.
Joe Russo highlighted the significance of this additional content. Speaking at the Sands Film Festival earlier this year, he noted that re-releasing ‘Endgame’ with footage related to the ‘Doomsday’ narrative is crucial to the overarching story, as per Den of Geek.

The new scenes reportedly introduce Doctor Doom, Loki, and Bruce Banner, with Tom Hiddleston confirmed to reprise his role in ‘Doomsday,’ while Mark Ruffalo’s return remains uncertain. The additional material depicts Doom abducting the Hulk, Loki encountering Steve Rogers and Peggy Carter, and the Time Variance Authority witnessing multiversal incursions, all leading to the moment Doom forges his iconic mask.
The strategy appears to be paying off at the box office. ‘Endgame Encore’ opened with over $3 million in preview screenings, positioning it to compete with other recent re-releases. Industry analysts project an opening weekend total between $25 million and $28 million domestically, which could help ‘Endgame’ reclaim its spot among the all-time global box office leaders.

This performance highlights the enduring affection for the film nearly a decade after Tony Stark’s final battle against Thanos. It also demonstrates Marvel Studios’ strategy of leveraging legacy titles to build excitement for upcoming releases.
For Downey, this marketing campaign serves as a playful way to embody his character ahead of ‘Doomsday’s debut. With the snack-loving artwork and the Russo brothers’ playful banter in the comments, the actor is clearly enjoying the opportunity to embrace Doom’s arrogant persona before audiences see him in action.
With ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ set to premiere on December 18, the countdown has officially begun. If Downey’s social media activity is any indication, Doom is already treating this moment as the main event.
