Rumor: A Predator Might Show Up in the ‘Alien: Romulus’ Sequel
There’s a new rumor going around that fans of both the Alien and Predator franchises will find exciting. Popular industry insider Jeff Sneider says he’s hearing that a Predator could appear in the upcoming sequel to Alien: Romulus. He also mentioned this on a recent podcast.
This is still just a rumor, so don’t take it as fact yet. But it wouldn’t be a huge surprise, especially after the Predator: Badlands trailer hinted at some connections to the Alien universe.
Director Fede Álvarez, who made Alien: Romulus, has already talked about how he would like to do an Alien vs. Predator (AVP) movie one day. He even said he could co-direct it with Dan Trachtenberg, the director of Prey.
Álvarez has also shared that he’s open to having a Predator show up in an Alien movie, or the other way around.
“The best AVP will be the one that you don’t know is AVP until the other guy shows up,” Álvarez said. “You think you’re watching a Predator movie, and then they land in some place and there are creatures, and fucking hell, it’s a Xenomorph. That would get me. ‘Fuck yeah!’ You’d go crazy. Or vice versa, you’re in an Alien movie, and then suddenly a mysterious creature is there, and you can hear that sound, and you see the cloak, and you go, ‘Is that a fucking Predator?’ And then turns out it is. That would be the way to do it, don’t you think? Once you put it in the title, it’s like, ‘Spoiler alert.’”
This rumor further gains credibility when you take into account the recent Predator: Badlands trailer. In the trailer, Elle Fanning’s character is seemingly a Weyland Android, the Weyland logo can be seen reflected in her eye,s and she is sporting a uniform with the same logo.
If this turns out to be a legit thing and not just a marketing ploy, it would mean that currently Xenomorphs and Predators are in the same universe.
