Sadie Sink is sharing her thoughts on her experience stepping into the Marvel universe with ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’. In a recent interview with NYLON Magazine, the actress discussed her role alongside Tom Holland and what it means to be part of one of Hollywood’s most significant franchises.

Sink described joining the Spider-Man universe as a unique experience, distinct from anything she had done previously. Although she had gained fame from ‘Stranger Things’ and various theater roles, she noted that Marvel operates on an entirely different level.

“I knew Marvel was a big deal, but it feels really big. These blockbuster movies are a whole different beast,” Sink told NYLON.

Her role in ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ remains largely under wraps, with Marvel keeping details about her character a secret. Sink revealed that she was offered the part without an audition, thanks to her previous collaboration with director Destin Daniel Cretton on the 2017 film ‘The Glass Castle’. She mentioned that she received the script only after arriving in London for production.

Despite joining such a massive franchise, Sink felt no pressure, having dealt with intense fan attention from her time on ‘Stranger Things’. After nearly a decade portraying Max Mayfield, she knows how to navigate theories, rumors, and the need for confidentiality regarding major plot points.

“You just don’t share the secret, it’s not that hard,” Sink joked while discussing the importance of keeping Marvel information private.

One of the most surprising aspects for Sink was the sheer scale of the Spider-Man fanbase. While she was aware of the franchise’s popularity, being part of it offered her a fresh perspective.

“I know there’s a huge fan base, but it feels really big,” she stated. “I think these blockbuster movies are a whole different beast.”

Sink also commended her co-star Tom Holland for making her transition into the Marvel world much smoother. She described her initial experience as an outsider but noted that Holland and the entire crew welcomed her warmly.

“It was interesting stepping into that space and being a little bit of an outsider in that way, but he could not have been more welcoming, and just the whole crew in general,” Sink told NYLON. She added that Holland was “so relaxed and open” and helped her feel at ease on set.

The role in ‘Spider-Man’ comes at a pivotal moment in Sink’s career. Following her time on ‘Stranger Things’, she has been seeking new challenges, including a return to theater. Her performance in ‘John Proctor Is the Villain’ earned her a Tony Award nomination, and she later starred in the West End production of ‘Romeo & Juliet’.

For Sink, joining ‘Spider-Man’ signifies a new chapter. While she has experience with large productions, she mentioned that the Marvel experience has introduced her to a different kind of filmmaking, characterized by larger audiences and heightened expectations.

‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ is set to continue the story of Tom Holland’s Peter Parker and will mark Sink’s entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While fans are still eager to learn more about her character, Sink’s comments indicate she is ready for this significant step in her career.
