Sadie Sink is stepping into the Marvel universe in a way that many actors can only dream of. The ‘Stranger Things’ star shared that she was offered her mysterious role in ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ without the need for an audition.

In a recent interview with Nylon, Sink discussed her entry into the Marvel realm and how it differs from her past projects. She mentioned having a prior connection with director Destin Daniel Cretton, which played a significant role in her being considered for the film.

Sink had previously collaborated with Cretton on the 2017 drama ‘The Glass Castle’, and that experience contributed to her being cast in the Spider-Man franchise. Rather than going through the usual audition process, she was offered the role directly.

The actress acknowledged that joining a massive franchise like Spider-Man was a completely new experience for her. Despite her years of dealing with the immense popularity of ‘Stranger Things’, she remarked that Marvel operates on a different level.

“I knew Marvel was a big deal, but it feels really big. These blockbuster movies are a whole different beast,” Sink stated.

While the specifics of Sink’s character in ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ remain under wraps, the mystery has already generated considerable excitement among fans. She mentioned that after nearly a decade on ‘Stranger Things’, keeping Marvel secrets has not been overly challenging.

“You just don’t share the secret, it’s not that hard,” she joked.

Sink also revealed that she did not receive a complete script until she arrived in London for filming. She was balancing her Marvel work with her role in the West End production of ‘Romeo & Juliet’, where she portrayed Juliet alongside Noah Jupe.

Transitioning from theater to a major superhero film was a significant adjustment, but Sink expressed gratitude for the support from the Spider-Man cast and crew. She specifically commended Tom Holland, who plays Peter Parker, for making her feel welcome.

“It was interesting stepping into that space and being a little bit of an outsider in that way, but he could not have been more welcoming, and just the whole crew in general,” Sink said. “He was just so relaxed and open, and I felt very at ease.”

For Sink, joining ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ marks another significant milestone in her career following her breakout role as Max Mayfield in ‘Stranger Things’. With the Netflix series concluding, she has been seeking new challenges, ranging from award-nominated theater performances to blockbuster films.

While fans are eager to discover Sink’s character in the upcoming Spider-Man film, Marvel has kept her role a secret. Her casting has already become one of the film’s most talked-about aspects, especially since she was selected without going through a traditional audition.

‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ will introduce Sink into one of Hollywood’s most significant franchises, and although she is keeping the details under wraps, she has made it clear that the experience has been unlike anything she has done before.
