Sebastian Stan Reveals How Much Work Remains on ‘The Batman: Part II’
Matt Reeves has been meticulously crafting his vision for Gotham City since ‘The Batman‘ debuted in theaters in 2022. The eagerly anticipated sequel is gradually assembling one of the most impressive casts in the franchise’s history. Robert Pattinson will reprise his role as the Caped Crusader, joined by familiar faces such as Jeffrey Wright, Andy Serkis, and Colin Farrell.
Among the newcomers creating significant buzz is Sebastian Stan, who is transitioning from over a decade as Marvel’s Winter Soldier to Reeves’ darker DC universe. Fans are eagerly speculating about which iconic villain he might portray, with widespread reports suggesting he could take on the role of Harvey Dent. However, Stan has been tight-lipped about confirming any details.
Despite the secrecy, Stan provided insight into the extensive work still ahead of him. In a conversation with ScreenRant, he was asked how much longer he has left filming ‘The Batman: Part II,’ to which he candidly replied, “a very long time, yep,” indicating a long winter of work still to come.
While Stan was merely describing his remaining filming schedule, his choice of words resonates differently in light of what Reeves has previously disclosed about the sequel’s setting. Back in May, Reeves shared camera test images featuring the Batmobile navigating through snow, captioned with the tag “SnowTires.”
This revelation has ignited fan speculation regarding whether the winter setting hints at a specific villain’s live-action debut, with names like Mr. Freeze circulating in online discussions. Others have drawn parallels to the snow-covered Gotham depicted in Tim Burton’s ‘Batman Returns,’ although no snow-themed antagonist has been officially confirmed for the sequel at this time.
‘The Batman: Part II’ will see Pattinson return as Bruce Wayne, alongside Wright’s James Gordon, Serkis’ Alfred Pennyworth, and Farrell’s Oswald “Oz” Cobb. Reeves is once again at the helm, co-writing the screenplay with Mattson Tomlin, maintaining the creative team from the first film.
Stan is among several notable new cast members, including Scarlett Johansson, Jayme Lawson, and Charles Dance. Production reportedly began in June following camera tests, with filming already spotted in Liverpool, England.
Stan has expressed both excitement and nerves as he prepares for the project, mentioning that he has already met with hair and makeup teams. While he has not confirmed whether he is officially playing Harvey Dent, speculation surrounding his casting continues to grow.
‘The Batman: Part II’ is currently slated for a theatrical release on October 1, 2027, providing fans ample time to theorize about the snowy Gotham setting ahead of the film’s eventual debut.
