Star Wars Fans React to New Insights on Scrapped Season 2 of ‘The Acolyte’
‘The Acolyte‘ continues to spark intense discussions among Star Wars fans, even after its cancellation. The series, set in the High Republic era, has left many questions unanswered since its single season concluded over a year ago. Its mixed reception and sudden end have led fans to speculate about the storylines that could have unfolded.
Every new detail about potential future developments is particularly significant for the community. Showrunner Leslye Headland had hinted at deeper connections for Manny Jacinto’s character Qimir with a mysterious Sith Lord, but the full extent of those plans has only recently come to light.
According to a new report, extensive plans for the scrapped second season of ‘The Acolyte’ have emerged, indicating a much darker and more ambitious trajectory than what was suggested in the first season. The season was set to begin with a one-year time jump, reintroducing viewers to the story after the events of the finale.
The intensity would ramp up quickly, with Amandla Stenberg’s Osha reportedly slated to face off against a Hutt in a gladiator arena early on, while Yoda would have been training Mae to use the Force to locate her sister.
The most intriguing revelations focus on Qimir’s evolving ties to Darth Plagueis, the Sith Lord hinted at in the finale as the shadowy manipulator. Reports suggest that Qimir would have been working directly for Plagueis throughout the season, tasked with assassinating key figures as part of a larger scheme.
Two flashbacks were planned to delve into Qimir’s backstory, exploring his training under Jedi Master Vernestra Rwoh. Additionally, Qimir was to have a home base in a mansion with a witty droid, where Plagueis would appear only as a hologram while secretly hiding within the walls.
According to the reported plans, Plagueis would have persistently pressured Qimir to hand Osha over to him, a request Qimir would continually refuse. This tension was expected to culminate in a fierce duel between the two, leaving Qimir nearly defeated before Osha intervened to save him.

This rescue would lead to one of the most discussed details from the report. Following their confrontation, Osha was set to take Qimir to a Force deprivation pool, where they would share what has been described as the closest thing ‘Star Wars’ has attempted to depict as an intimate scene.
Importantly, multiple outlets have clarified that this scene was not intended as a conventional moment, but rather as a Force-based experience blending physical and spiritual intimacy, drawing comparisons to a similar concept from ‘Avatar.’ It’s essential to note that none of these plans were ever filmed, fully scripted, or confirmed by Lucasfilm, Headland, or anyone associated with the project, so this outline should be regarded as an abandoned concept rather than a definitive creative direction.
Nevertheless, the detailed report has rekindled interest in a show many had dismissed after its cancellation. The dynamic between Osha and Qimir was one of the more captivating elements from the first season, and these reported plans suggest that the writers aimed to explore their relationship in groundbreaking ways for the franchise.
In an age of light, a darkness rises.

‘The Acolyte’ was canceled after just one season, with Lucasfilm confirming the decision shortly after the finale aired. The writers had outlines prepared for both a second and third season, but none of those episodes were ever fully developed before the show was canceled.
For a franchise that has typically kept romantic and intimate storytelling at a distance, even an unproduced concept like this one carries significant weight. It highlights how differently ‘The Acolyte’ might have evolved had it been allowed to continue exploring its central characters beyond a single season.
Whether fans view these scrapped plans as a thrilling missed opportunity or further evidence that the show was better off ending when it did, the conversation surrounding ‘The Acolyte’ is far from over.
