‘Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord’ Star Gideon Adlon Discusses Devon’s Alliance with Maul in Season 2

Gideon Adlon, who portrays Devon Izara in Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord, recently shared insights about her character’s evolution, particularly the pivotal choice to ally with Maul.

In an interview featured on StarWars.com, Adlon delved into Devon’s narrative in Season 1 and its implications as the series progresses into Season 2, which is currently in production.

A significant moment in the season is Devon’s transformation in perspective following her experiences. By the conclusion of Season 1, she finds herself aligning with Maul, marking a crucial turning point for her character.

Adlon noted that this decision resonated with her while reading the scripts. She stated, “It’s something that she needs to do, and also I think she doesn’t have anywhere to go. Even though he is who he is, Maul feels like the safest option for her at this point.”

The notion of “safety” with Maul may seem unusual, yet the series portrays Devon as a character grappling with confusion and emotion while striving to survive in a harsh environment. Her relationship with her Jedi Master Eeko-Dio Daki also significantly alters her path after a profound loss, propelling her deeper into uncertainty.

Adlon also discussed how Devon gradually begins to perceive things differently, especially after her initial encounter with Maul. She explained that while Devon doesn’t completely trust him, she still senses a connection to her own struggles.

According to StarWars.com, Season 2 of Maul – Shadow Lord is already in development, and fans can expect it to arrive soon. Sam Witwer, the voice of Maul, has also confirmed that production is progressing, heightening anticipation for what lies ahead.

For Adlon, the narrative continues to unfold, and she emphasized that Devon’s feelings towards Maul are complex. She mentioned that it’s an ongoing journey of understanding as her character develops.

Season 1 is currently streaming on Disney+, and with Season 2 confirmed, fans will soon discover where Devon and Maul’s unusual partnership will lead next.
