Sydney Sweeney Stars in Provocative New Sports Betting Ad for Novig
Sydney Sweeney is taking a bold new direction in sports advertising. The ‘Euphoria’ star has partnered with Novig for a fresh campaign that places her at the forefront of a playful and provocative ad filled with sports gear, clever jokes, and plenty of eye-catching moments. As reported by Variety, Sweeney not only stars in the campaign but has also become a strategic partner and equity holder with Novig, enhancing her involvement with the sports prediction platform.
The ad centers around a straightforward message: Novig is all about sports. Sweeney is seen alongside basketballs, footballs, hockey gear, and other sports items while explaining what sets the platform apart. At one point, she challenges viewers, “Think you know sports? Prove it. Novig is just sports. So they wanted to show just sports.” The campaign amplifies this idea, utilizing Sweeney and a vast array of athletic equipment to ensure the message resonates.
In a statement shared with Variety, Sweeney elaborated on the campaign’s concept. “The campaign was about embracing a fun idea,” she noted. “The concept is simple: cut through the noise and put the focus entirely on sports. The campaign brings that idea to life with confidence, humor and a playful edge.” This playful tone is evident throughout the commercial, which juxtaposes traditional sports imagery with a more unexpected presentation.
The commercial showcases various sports settings, with Sweeney donning different pieces of athletic gear. She sports a hockey goalie mask, football pads, a baseball catcher’s helmet, and a Novig jersey as the ad transitions from one humorous visual to another. Eventually, the campaign shifts to a pool table, where Sweeney breaks a rack of billiard balls before delivering another quip directly to the camera. The result feels less like a conventional betting commercial and more like a celebrity-driven comedy sketch designed to spark conversation.
Novig has recently expanded its operations nationwide and functions under a federally regulated framework, according to information from Variety. The platform targets users aged 21 and over and incorporates elements inspired by financial exchange systems while maintaining a focus on sports. The company aims to position itself as an alternative to broader prediction markets that encompass topics beyond games and competitions.
This distinction is also a key part of Sweeney’s message in the ad. She emphasizes that Novig does not facilitate betting on topics such as wars, deaths, or politics. “No betting on wars or deaths and no politics,” she states, adding, “Just you, your takes and sports.” Novig CEO and co-founder Jacob Fortinsky expressed that the company aimed to create a prediction market specifically for sports fans, and he believes Sweeney’s involvement helped make that message stand out.
This isn’t Sweeney’s first time leveraging a provocative campaign for attention. The actress has participated in several striking promotions for her lingerie brand Syrn, which she launched earlier this year. She also featured in an American Eagle jeans campaign that ignited significant online debate due to its use of the phrase “good genes.” Her latest Novig campaign continues the trend of placing Sweeney at the center of advertising that quickly becomes part of the online dialogue.
Beyond advertising, Sweeney has several major film projects on the horizon. She is set to reprise her role in ‘The Housemaid’s Secret’, following the success of ‘The Housemaid’, which became an unexpected box-office hit. Additionally, she is attached to Netflix’s ‘Gundam’ movie and StudioCanal’s ‘The Custom of the Country’. For now, however, her latest sports campaign is providing fans with yet another reason to discuss her, as Novig bets on Sweeney’s star power and the ad’s unique style to make its sports-first message unforgettable.
