‘The Mandalorian’ Season 4 Is Off the Table, but a Sequel Movie Could Be Made, New Rumor Claims
When The Mandalorian first came out, Star Wars fans were amazed and it seemed that Disney had a winning formula for its projects. And while some others underperformed in the meantime, The Mandalorian managed to maintain the high standard it had set.
After three seasons, the series seemingly came to an end as a sequel movie, The Mandalorian and Grogu, was announced, set to be released next year.
The series’ future thus became an enigma, but a new rumor seemingly clarifies things going forward, and we are going to explain everything you need to know!
As you know, after Season 3 of The Mandalorian, Lucasfilm decided to change things up a bit and instead of a fourth season of the popular series, we are getting a sequel movie, which is set to be released on May 22, 2026, so a little under a year from now.
And while the movie will act as a direct sequel to the series, there have been numerous rumors circulating about the future of the series after that movie, as the movie hasn’t been marketed as the final chapter.
Some rummors teased a new season, while others teased more theatrical projects, including a big crossover movie that would unite all the series into one story as envisioned by Dave Filoni.
Now, a new rumor claims that the latter is closer to the truth. Namely, a fourth season of the show is off the table, as it seems, and the future of the whole narrative will depend on the success of the upcoming movie.
If The Mandalorian and Grogu does well, we could see another movie that would continue the story. At the same time, if it underperforms, it will also act as the closing chapter of The Mandalorian‘s narrative, which means that the story will probably be written as a closed one, but with a small opening for more.
Not only that, if The Mandalorian and Grogu underperforms at the box office, the rumor claims that it could also endanger Filoni’s planned film, which means that Lucasfilm is betting big on the movie.
The rumor comes to us from Daniel Richtman, who shared it via his Patreon account. Of course, since it is a rumor after all, we advise you to take it with a grain of salt until we have some official information. Until then, keep following us for more updates.
