‘The Testaments’ Season 2 Tease Revealed in New Set Video

The Testaments is rapidly progressing towards its second season.

The news was shared through a video posted online, featuring the cast on set with a clapperboard. The caption stated, “That’s a wrap on Season 1. 🎬✨ See you for Season 2!” This announcement confirmed to fans that the story will indeed continue.

Hulu had already renewed The Testaments for a second season prior to the season 1 finale. This renewal was announced in May 2026, just before the final episode aired on May 27. The decision was reportedly influenced by strong viewership growth throughout the season, with audiences increasing week after week.

The series is adapted from the 2019 novel The Testaments by Margaret Atwood and serves as a sequel to The Handmaid’s Tale, which was based on Atwood’s earlier 1985 novel. Both narratives unfold in the dystopian realm of Gilead, a strict and totalitarian society where women’s rights are severely restricted.

Season 1 centers on a younger generation growing up within Gilead. Key characters include Agnes, portrayed by Chase Infiniti, and Daisy, played by Lucy Halliday. The show also features Ann Dowd reprising her role as Aunt Lydia, a character well-known to fans of The Handmaid’s Tale. Other cast members include Rowan Blanchard, Mabel Li, and several younger actors portraying students and figures within Gilead’s oppressive system.

While details about season 2 remain under wraps, the show is expected to continue exploring the events of the book while expanding beyond them. The first season concluded with significant tension among the characters, particularly regarding their future choices and loyalties within Gilead’s regime.

The season 1 finale, titled “Secateurs,” revolved around tough decisions and emotional turmoil. The episode description notes, “While Becka faces the consequences of her actions, Agnes and Daisy must decide how far they’re willing to go to protect her.” This conclusion set the stage for clear directions in future storylines and character arcs.

Some cast members have already shared their thoughts on the potential journeys of their characters. Rowan Blanchard, who plays Shunammite Hayes, discussed her role in an interview with Teen Vogue. She mentioned, “I think, for the most part, she really wants to get pregnant and be married. That’s what she wants. So I wonder what will make her crack a little bit.” Her remarks suggest that season 2 may delve deeper into the pressures faced by young women in Gilead.

The series is intricately linked to the world of The Handmaid’s Tale, which has enjoyed multiple successful seasons and has become a significant hit for Hulu. The original show also featured Elisabeth Moss as June Osborne, a character who made a brief appearance in The Testaments season 1 in a surprise role.

Showrunner Bruce Miller, in an interview with People, discussed the ongoing collaboration with Moss. He stated, “She didn’t want to hang up her cloak, as she says.” He also noted that Moss has remained deeply involved in the creative direction of the franchise since its inception.

With season 2 confirmed and production momentum building, The Testaments is poised to further explore the world of Gilead, following its new generation of characters while maintaining close ties to the events of The Handmaid’s Tale.
