Streaming platforms often revive an actor’s lesser-known works just as their name starts trending in the media. This phenomenon usually has little to do with the older film itself and everything to do with timing, as viewers become curious about an actor’s past performances when new buzz begins to circulate.

Currently, Pierce Brosnan is experiencing such a moment. Having moved on from his iconic James Bond role, the actor is gearing up for a busy slate of upcoming projects, including a return to the grounded action thrillers that established him as a reliable leading man post-Bond.

Notably, one of those thrillers is making waves on Paramount+’s top 10 movies chart this week. ‘The November Man’ is currently ranked at number 9, having slipped three spots from its previous position but still holding strong five days into its run, nestled among comedies like ‘Scary Movie’ and beloved films like ‘The Hangover.’

In this 2014 spy thriller, Brosnan portrays Peter Devereaux, a skilled ex-CIA agent drawn out of retirement to safeguard a crucial witness, only to find himself pursued by his former protégé. Directed by Roger Donaldson and featuring Olga Kurylenko and Luke Bracey, the film is loosely based on Bill Granger’s “November Man” book series, though it received a modest 36 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes from critics.

Interestingly, there’s a piece of trivia worth noting: Brosnan announced a sequel during a live appearance on “The Tonight Show” before the first film even premiered in theaters, with the studio confirming plans for a follow-up. However, that sequel never came to fruition, leaving Devereaux’s narrative as a standalone entry despite the initial enthusiasm.

Brosnan’s return to high-stakes action is also unfolding in other projects. He stars as Ray Cooper, a seasoned mountaineer managing a luxury chalet in the Dolomites, in the upcoming ‘Cliffhanger’ reboot alongside Lily James, whose character must navigate both the treacherous terrain and a group of kidnappers after a weekend getaway turns deadly. The film has faced distribution challenges due to financial issues with its original backer, ultimately landing at Vertical for a planned theatrical release in Spring 2027.

Additionally, he has joined Chris Hemsworth in ‘Extraction 3’, keeping his name linked to the globe-trotting action films that made ‘The November Man’ a fitting role for him a decade ago. With the long and tumultuous path to getting ‘Cliffhanger’ into theaters, there are plenty of reasons for his name to resurface in entertainment news this year.

While it’s uncertain whether ‘The November Man’ will climb back up Paramount+’s chart or continue to slide, its current presence aligns perfectly with an actor steadily building toward a genuinely busy 2027. This gives longtime fans a reason to revisit one of his lesser-known films while they await his upcoming projects.
