Vanessa Kirby recently opened up about what it was like filming Avengers: Doomsday, and she had some heartfelt things to say about joining the Marvel family. Kirby talked about how it felt to step into such a long-running universe, especially alongside the cast of the original Avengers.

She said it was a little intimidating at first, but the whole experience ended up feeling really special. “These people have known each other for 20 years and have worked together, grown these characters and we’re the newbies,” Kirby explained. She said that while she and the other members of the Fantastic Four are just starting their journey, they’re being welcomed into something much bigger.

Kirby also mentioned how The Fantastic Four: First Steps serves as a setup for what’s to come, especially before joining the larger story in Avengers: Doomsday. “This is our establishing movie [The Fantastic Four: First Steps], now we’re joining them as a family,” she said.

She compared the cast to a theatre group, saying the vibe on set was very collaborative and friendly. “So it feels like one big family, it feels like a theatre company,” she added.

Fans are getting more excited as Marvel prepares to bring the Fantastic Four into the bigger picture, and Kirby’s comments are making it clear that the actors are just as eager to be part of the team.

Filming for Avengers: Doomsday started last month. It will take place at Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire, England. The movie is being shot under the secret name “Apple Pie 1” to keep things quiet. Filming will last for about six months. Jeffrey Ford, who has worked on other Marvel movies, will be the editor for this film.
