Warhorse Studios has officially announced that it is developing two new games, including an open-world RPG set in Middle-earth.

The studio shared this exciting news on social media, stating: “You might have heard the rumours, it’s time to reveal what we are working on. 🗺️ An open world Middle-earth RPG. ⚔️ A new Kingdom Come adventure. We’re excited to tell you more when the time is right.”

Known for the ‘Kingdom Come: Deliverance’ series, particularly the recently launched ‘Kingdom Come: Deliverance II’, Warhorse Studios has confirmed that a new game related to the Kingdom Come universe is also in the works.

Currently, it remains uncertain whether this project is ‘Kingdom Come: Deliverance III’ or something entirely different. The announcement referred to it as “a new Kingdom Come adventure,” leaving fans eager for further details.

The more surprising revelation was the confirmation of an open-world RPG based on ‘The Lord of the Rings’ and Middle-earth. Rumors regarding this game surfaced earlier this year when a translator mentioned it during an appearance on Tolkien Polska, a Polish podcast dedicated to Tolkien’s works.

In October 2025, Insider Gaming reported that a new ‘Lord of the Rings’ game was in development. The report suggested that the game would be a third-person action RPG, inspired by the style and scale of ‘Hogwarts Legacy’. Additionally, it mentioned that the project might receive funding support from the Abu Dhabi Investment Office, with a budget estimated at around $100 million.

Fans of Middle-earth have long been requesting a large-scale modern RPG set in Tolkien’s universe, and this announcement has already generated significant excitement online. Given that Warhorse Studios plans to share more details “when the time is right,” it seems unlikely that either game will be released in 2026.

For now, fans will have to wait and hope for trailers or gameplay footage to be revealed later this year.
