Red carpet season transforms press tours into spectacles, and few stars navigate this better than Zendaya. Over recent months, she and her longtime stylist Law Roach have crafted a narrative through fashion, unveiling a new chapter at each premiere.

This journey has taken the actress from London to Shanghai and back to Los Angeles as she promotes ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ alongside her husband and co-star Tom Holland. Each appearance showcases a unique style, yet a common theme of black, dramatic, and purposeful designs has emerged.

At the Los Angeles premiere, Zendaya’s look reached a striking peak. She wore a black satin Ashi Studio corset complemented by a sweeping architectural train, quickly becoming one of the standout looks of her entire press tour.

However, the design was more than just a visual spectacle. In an interview with Variety, stylist Law Roach revealed that the look symbolized an abstract interpretation of the spider, representing a woman’s metamorphosis into something entirely new.

This kind of symbolism has become a hallmark of the Zendaya and Roach collaboration throughout this promotional cycle. They have embraced gothic, shadowy silhouettes for the ‘Brand New Day’ rollout, a notable shift from the typical bright red-carpet styles, prompting fans to speculate about the deeper meanings behind their wardrobe choices.

The jewelry complemented the ensemble, with Roach confirming that the accessories worn with the corset were sourced from Boucheron. While subtle, these details added an extra layer of sophistication to an already commanding look.

Zendaya’s tour has featured multiple standout moments. Just days before, at the Shanghai premiere, she dazzled in a plunging, high-slit dress from Atelier Versace’s Spring/Summer 2016 couture collection, styled with a vintage David Webb spider brooch adorned with a cushion-cut yellow sapphire and diamonds. The off-white fabric paired with black web-like mesh made the outfit feel tailor-made for the occasion, despite its nearly decade-old origins.

Roach has openly discussed the challenge of picking a favorite look from the tour, although he did mention a previous highlight: an archival spiderweb-patterned dress from John Galliano’s 1997 “Circus” collection, which Zendaya wore in June for the film’s London premiere.

This impressive range, drawing from various eras and designers while consistently connecting to the film’s web-slinging themes, has transformed Zendaya’s press tour into a notable style event. It’s a rare example of method dressing sparking genuine cultural conversations rather than merely filling the red carpet between premieres.

As Roach remains tight-lipped about Zendaya’s upcoming promotional run for ‘Dune: Part Three’, he hinted that it will be remarkable, leaving fans curious about the storytelling that lies ahead.

For now, all eyes are on ‘Brand New Day’, which premieres in theaters on July 31, featuring Zendaya alongside Holland, Mark Ruffalo, Jon Bernthal, Jacob Batalon, and Sadie Sink.
