Lola Glaudini Says Working With Johnny Depp on ‘Blow’ Left Her Hating Him
Lola Glaudini opened up about a tough experience from her early days in Hollywood while appearing on the Powerful Truth Angels podcast. She described her time on the set of the 2001 film ‘Blow’ as particularly challenging because it marked her first major studio production after years of working on independent projects. Glaudini had admired Johnny Depp as an actor and was thrilled at the chance to share the screen with him. Instead the encounter left her feeling deeply upset and ultimately led her to harbor strong negative feelings toward him.
The incident happened right on her first day of filming. Director Ted Demme instructed her to laugh loudly at one of Depp’s lines during a scene. She followed the direction and delivered the reaction as asked. When the director called cut Depp reportedly walked straight over to her pointed a finger in her face and unleashed a barrage of profanities. Glaudini recalled him shouting words like who the f* do you think you are shut the f* up I’m trying to say my lines and you’re pulling focus you f***ing idiot. She was left stunned especially since she was in a vulnerable position during the take.
Glaudini explained that the moment hit her hard because she had idolized Depp and expected a positive working dynamic. Fighting back tears she focused on holding herself together and not crying in front of everyone. Later that day Depp offered what she described as a non-apology apology which did little to ease the sting of the outburst. The experience soured her view of him completely turning excitement into resentment.
Depp’s representatives pushed back against the account when reached for comment. A spokesperson emphasized that Depp always makes a priority of maintaining positive relationships with everyone on set from cast to crew. The statement noted that this version of events stands in contrast to what others who were present recall from that time. A crew member from the sound department also came forward saying he never heard any such confrontation take place while working nearby.
Glaudini mentioned feeling somewhat isolated afterward particularly as she chose to speak about it publicly years later. She has built a solid career since then with roles in popular shows and films continuing to thrive in the industry. In contrast some others who have raised concerns about Depp’s behavior on various projects have faced difficulties finding steady work afterward. Depp’s career has seen its share of controversies over the years including reports of on-set issues and personal incidents though he has denied many of the more serious allegations.
‘Blow’ remains a notable entry in Depp’s filmography telling the story of a man caught up in the drug trade with a strong ensemble cast. Glaudini’s account adds another layer to discussions about what happens behind the scenes in Hollywood especially during high-pressure shoots. These stories remind everyone that even dream opportunities can come with unexpected tension.
