Nicole Kidman (58) Taken to Hospital After First ‘Margo’s Got Money Troubles’ Shoot
Nicole Kidman’s debut day on the set of Margo’s Got Money Troubles turned into an unexpected behind-the-scenes incident when she was taken to the hospital for IV treatment right after filming her scenes.
This update comes from actor Nick Offerman, who shared insights with PEOPLE about working alongside Kidman on the Apple TV+ series. Kidman portrays Lace, a former professional wrestler turned lawyer, and is also an executive producer for the show.
Offerman noted that Kidman’s first appearance in the series coincided with her initial day of filming. The scene involved a substantial setup featuring a wrestling convention, a large crowd of extras, and numerous stunt performers, making it a significant production day that required meticulous coordination.
Initially, the production faced challenges. Offerman mentioned that the team was informed early in the morning that Kidman was quite ill with the flu and might not be able to work that day. Given that the shoot involved a large setup specifically arranged for that single day, this created considerable pressure on the schedule.
However, later that morning, the situation shifted when it was confirmed that Kidman would still come to set. Despite appearing visibly unwell, she arrived and proceeded with the planned scenes.
Offerman described her condition, stating she looked weak and pale but remained dedicated to completing her work. He noted that she persevered through the filming, ensuring every necessary shot was captured, even with the physical demands of the scene.
According to Offerman, once filming concluded, Kidman was promptly taken to the hospital for IV treatment due to her illness during the shoot.
He also praised her professionalism throughout the experience, stating, “She showed up so that your show doesn’t lose a minute of your value.” He added, “It was so generous. It was astonishing.”
Kidman has previously discussed her preparation for the role, including training for wrestling scenes. At the show’s New York premiere, she expressed initial nerves about potential injuries but eventually became more at ease in the ring. She also conveyed her enjoyment of the experience and expressed interest in taking on more wrestling roles in the future.
Margo’s Got Money Troubles is adapted from the novel by Rufi Thorpe and follows a young woman navigating financial difficulties after college while raising a baby. The series stars Elle Fanning in the lead role, with Offerman portraying her father and Michelle Pfeiffer as her mother. The show features a large supporting cast and was created by David E. Kelley.
Episodes of the series are released weekly on Apple TV+.
This incident underscores the demanding nature of production schedules, particularly for physically intense scenes like wrestling. It also highlights how some actors endure illness to prevent delays in large-scale shoots. While such dedication is often commended, it raises concerns about the pressure placed on performers during tightly scheduled productions.
