Tom Hiddleston Calls ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Extraordinary and Magnificent
Tom Hiddleston has been measured in his remarks leading up to ‘Avengers: Doomsday’, but his recent comments about the film are his most enthusiastic yet. Hiddleston expressed to fans that the film is set to be “magnificent” and will exceed all expectations, noting that it even surpassed his own when he first read the script.
This aligns with Hiddleston’s consistent praise for the film over the past months.
In an interview with The River, Hiddleston referred to the film as “monumental,” stating, “The center of the story is absolutely brilliant, and was so surprising when I read it. It just has never been done before.” This is a significant endorsement from someone who has been part of the MCU for over a decade and has witnessed the franchise at its peak.
Since his debut as Loki in ‘Thor’ in 2011, Hiddleston has been integral to the character’s journey through every phase of the MCU, making him one of only two actors, alongside Sebastian Stan, to appear across all six phases of the franchise. At the conclusion of ‘Loki’ Season 2, the character evolved into the God of Stories, tasked with maintaining the branching timelines of the Multiverse, a role that positions him as a prime target for the villainous Doctor Doom in ‘Doomsday’.
Hiddleston has also hinted that his portrayal of Loki in the upcoming film will feel distinct, mentioning in an interview with Men’s Health that this version of the character is “new in his own way.” Given Loki’s journey in the Disney Plus series, fans are eager to see this evolution unfold on the big screen.
The film’s vast ensemble cast has provided Hiddleston with several genuine “pinch me” moments on set, especially when interacting with recently confirmed X-Men cast members like Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen during production. A reunion between Loki and Thor, portrayed by Chris Hemsworth, is also confirmed, marking the brothers’ return to the screen together for the first time since ‘Avengers: Endgame’.
‘Avengers: Doomsday’ is set to hit theaters on December 18, 2026, directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, with Robert Downey Jr. reprising his role as the villainous Doctor Doom. If Hiddleston’s reaction to the script is any indication, the film is shaping up to be the kind of monumental event Marvel fans have been anticipating since ‘Endgame’.
