‘Minions & Monsters’ Unveils New Trailer Featuring Chaos and Fun

A new trailer has been unveiled for Minions & Monsters, offering fans an exciting glimpse into the next chapter of this beloved animated franchise.

This film marks a fresh addition to the Despicable Me universe, continuing the spin-off series centered around the Minions. Directed by Pierre Coffin, who co-wrote the screenplay with Brian Lynch, the project promises to deliver more of the humor fans adore.

Produced by Illumination and distributed by Universal Pictures, the movie is set long before the events of previous Minions films. This time, the narrative transports us back to the 1920s, where the Minions embark on a quest to create their own monster movie in Old Hollywood.

The voice cast features Coffin reprising his role as the Minions, alongside a star-studded ensemble that includes Allison Janney, Christoph Waltz, Jeff Bridges, Jesse Eisenberg, Zoey Deutch, Bobby Moynihan, Phil LaMarr, and Trey Parker.

In this story, the Minions seek out real monsters to feature in their film project, resulting in a delightful mix of comedy and classic Hollywood-style filmmaking.

The project was first announced in 2024 following the release of Despicable Me 4. It brings back Coffin as director and Lynch as writer, with Chris Meledandri producing. The music is composed by John Powell, marking a new direction for the franchise’s soundtrack.

The film has undergone an extensive marketing campaign, including a Super Bowl teaser and early preview footage showcased at industry events.

Its release strategy includes a festival premiere at Annecy before hitting theaters in the United States on July 1, 2026. Streaming will follow later across various platforms as part of Universal’s distribution agreement.

There was also a previous setback during production when an audio recording from a test screening leaked online, leading to early exposure of the film’s content.

With the new trailer now available, the studio is ramping up promotion ahead of its summer release, highlighting a blend of humor, chaos, and retro Hollywood flair.

This film appears to be another strong installment in the Minions series. The Old Hollywood setting offers a fresh concept, potentially giving the story an exciting new direction. It will be intriguing to see if it can stand out amidst the numerous entries in the franchise. What are your thoughts on the new trailer for Minions & Monsters? Share your opinions in the comments.
