Prime Video enjoyed a successful week in streaming, thanks to the comeback of two of its most popular superhero series.

According to the latest Nielsen streaming data covering April 6-12 in the United States, ‘The Boys’ made a significant return with the debut of its fifth and final season. The series premiered its new episodes on April 8 and swiftly climbed to the number two position on the overall streaming charts.

The show amassed 899 million viewing minutes during that week, with the majority of the audience tuning in for the first two episodes of the new season, which accounted for approximately 575 million minutes watched.

Despite the impressive return of ‘The Boys’, HBO Max’s medical drama ‘The Pitt’ held onto its title as the most-watched streaming show for a second consecutive week. The series reached 1.13 billion viewing minutes just before its season two finale aired.

‘The Pitt’ has quietly emerged as one of the biggest streaming successes of the year. Nielsen data indicates that the drama has maintained over one billion viewing minutes for nine straight weeks, generating nearly 15.5 billion total viewing minutes since its premiere earlier this year.

Prime Video also found success with ‘Invincible’. The animated superhero series continued its strong performance with 566 million viewing minutes during the same week, marking one of the best weekly showings in its history, according to Nielsen.

Netflix also saw several titles performing well during the week. The documentary series ‘Trust Me: The False Prophet’ debuted with 850 million viewing minutes, placing it among the top original streaming shows in the country.

On the film side, Netflix’s shark thriller ‘Thrash’ became the most-watched streaming film of the week with 687 million minutes viewed.

Apple TV+ comedy ‘Shrinking’ also made a return to the streaming top 10 around the time of its season three finale. Meanwhile, Dan Levy’s new comedy ‘Big Mistakes’ had a quieter launch after premiering on April 9, finishing the week with 420 million viewing minutes.

The streaming numbers were reported by Nielsen, which tracks television viewing in the United States. The company noted that its rankings only include audiences watching on TV screens and do not account for mobile phones, tablets, or computer streaming.

It was a robust week for superhero content, particularly for Prime Video. The final season of ‘The Boys’ clearly retains a massive audience, while ‘Invincible’ continues to demonstrate that animated superhero stories can compete with live-action hits. At the same time, ‘The Pitt’ keeps showcasing surprising staying power at the top of the charts. What have you been watching lately? Let us know in the comments.
