DC’s ‘Deathstroke and Bane’ Movie Reportedly In Development With Director Considerations

A new ‘Deathstroke and Bane’ movie is currently in the early stages of development at DC Studios, as reported by Deadline. At this point, the project is still in its infancy, and no final decisions have been made.

Sources indicate that Greg Mottola is the leading candidate to direct the film. Mottola has already contributed to the DC Studios universe by working on episodes of ‘Peacemaker.’ However, there are other directors under consideration, so a final choice has yet to be confirmed.

The screenplay for the movie is still in an unfinished state, and no contracts have been signed. The project is being developed under the guidance of DC Studios executives James Gunn and Peter Safran.

Discussions about a ‘Deathstroke and Bane’ film first emerged in September 2024. The screenplay was reportedly drafted in its early stages by Matthew Orton, who previously worked on Marvel’s ‘Moon Knight.’

If the film progresses, it would mark Bane’s return to live-action for the first time since ‘The Dark Knight Rises,’ where Tom Hardy portrayed the character. Bane is known for his immense physical strength, enhanced by a drug called Venom, and for the iconic comic storyline “Breaking the Bat,” where he famously breaks Batman’s back.

Deathstroke also has a rich history in DC comics. He is depicted as a mercenary and former soldier who becomes a super-enhanced fighter following a military experiment. He has battled various teams, including the Teen Titans, and heroes like Batman and Green Arrow. The character has appeared in multiple DC projects, with various portrayals in earlier films and shows.

Greg Mottola, who is being considered as a potential director, is known for his work on comedy films such as ‘Superbad’ and ‘Adventureland.’ He is also involved in the series ‘The Miniature Wife.’ According to Deadline, he is viewed as a strong candidate, but DC Studios has yet to make any official announcements.

Currently, DC Studios has not provided any official comment regarding the project. For now, the ‘Deathstroke and Bane’ movie remains in early development, with no confirmed director or release timeline.
