Sally Field recently shared her experiences from the 1993 film ‘Mrs. Doubtfire’ during an appearance on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” as reported by Variety.

She admitted that she did not find her co-star Robin Williams funny while they were shooting. Despite the laughter of others around her, she remained unresponsive to his jokes on set.

Field explained, “Because I would never laugh, ever. And everybody else was laughing and carrying on.”

Williams was known for his improvisational skills, often trying out various jokes to elicit reactions from his co-stars. However, Field’s serious demeanor during takes posed a challenge for him. She remarked, “It drove him mad, actually. It wasn’t funny. It just wasn’t funny.”

She recalled how Williams continuously attempted new material to make her laugh, but to no avail. Field described it, saying, “Robin was always trying something different to make me laugh. It was so unfunny. I can’t begin to tell you.”

Field also recounted a moment when her reaction was quite different during a scene with Pierce Brosnan. When he made a fart sound with his arm, she couldn’t help but laugh, saying, “And I was gone. That was it.”

‘Mrs. Doubtfire’ is regarded as one of the most beloved comedies of the 1990s. The film follows Williams’ character, a father who disguises himself as a nanny to remain close to his children after a divorce. Field portrayed his ex-wife, while Brosnan played her new partner.

Robin Williams passed away in 2014 at the age of 63, with his death ruled a suicide by asphyxiation, according to officials in Tiburon, California. He is fondly remembered for his roles in numerous films, including Good Morning, Vietnam, Dead Poets Society, Aladdin, and The Birdcage.
