Netflix’s New 6-Episode Crime Series ‘Legends’ Is Dominating With High Ratings
‘Legends’ is rapidly emerging as one of the standout new crime series on Netflix. According to streaming data and reviews from Rotten Tomatoes and Netflix viewing charts, the six-episode drama has already secured the No. 7 position on the platform’s Top 10 Most Watched list, garnering strong critical acclaim.
The series boasts an impressive 92% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes, placing it near the top among recent crime dramas. While audience scores are slightly lower at around 83%, they still indicate that viewers are enjoying the show.

Set in 1990s Britain, ‘Legends’ delves into a major heroin crisis that sweeps across the country. The narrative centers on a group of civil servants who are thrust into undercover operations as they strive to dismantle dangerous criminal networks involved in the drug trade.
The main cast features Steve Coogan, Tom Burke, and Hayley Squires, all of whom deliver compelling performances that enhance the investigation and undercover dynamics. Critics have noted that their portrayals are among the strongest elements of the series, adding depth and authenticity to the storyline.

Critics have particularly commended the show’s pacing. Rather than rushing through the plot, ‘Legends’ takes its time to build suspense and develop its characters. This deliberate approach has been described as refreshing in a streaming landscape often dominated by rapid pacing and constant twists.
One critic, Ahbishek Srivastava, remarked, “’Legends’ will resonate with viewers who appreciate slower, more thoughtful crime dramas. It presents a compelling narrative inspired by true events without unnecessary embellishments or forced emotional arcs.”
Despite its more measured tone, the series still incorporates moments of action. The production effectively utilizes its budget to create realistic chase scenes, tense undercover scenarios, and gritty crime settings that reflect the harsh realities of the drug trade during that era.
Audience reactions have largely been positive as well. Many viewers admire the show’s meticulous attention to detail and its authentic portrayal of 1990s Britain. The soundtrack, featuring a selection of 90s music, has also become a significant talking point among fans, enhancing the nostalgic atmosphere.
One viewer shared, “It’s absolutely brilliant, so easy to watch, loved the soundtrack. It was a very 90s fantastic choice, love the Stone Roses. The Liverpool drugs gang was done perfectly, no over-exaggerated accents, and I think I know how they developed the storyline around certain characters and the actual gangs that were around Liverpool at that time.”
While some viewers felt that the series lost a bit of momentum in its later episodes, the overall reception remains strong. Many fans have drawn comparisons between ‘Legends’ and other prominent crime shows like ‘Narcos’, particularly regarding its focus on real-world crime networks and undercover operations.
With its impressive reviews, high Rotten Tomatoes score, and a top 10 ranking on Netflix, ‘Legends’ is already being recognized as one of the more successful crime dramas of the year.
