First Look at Anya Taylor-Joy’s ‘Lucky’ Reveals Apple TV’s Upcoming Crime Thriller
Apple TV+ is gearing up to unveil a new crime thriller titled Lucky, which has already garnered significant attention due to its star-studded cast and gripping storyline.
Leading the series is Anya Taylor-Joy, who has emerged as one of the most sought-after actresses in recent years, thanks to her roles in projects like The Queen’s Gambit, The Witch, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, and The Gorge.
In Lucky, Taylor-Joy portrays a woman with a troubled past who strives to lead a normal life. However, her plans unravel when she is drawn back into a world of danger, compelled to undertake one last illegal job in a bid to escape her former life for good. The series is based on the novel by Marissa Stapley and features a writing team that includes Hillary Bettis, Cassie Pappas, Mark Stassenko, and Jonathan Tropper.
The cast also features Timothy Olyphant and William Fichtner, adding depth to the crime-centric narrative. The series is set to consist of seven episodes, with Apple TV+ premiering the first two episodes on July 15, 2026. Subsequent episodes will be released weekly, concluding on August 19.
Collider reports that the show was teased earlier this year, and this latest update confirms the complete release strategy along with new promotional content. Apple TV+ is positioning Lucky as a key summer release, particularly following the success of other recent Apple TV+ offerings.
The narrative of Lucky delves into themes of survival, identity, and the challenges of escaping a perilous past. The protagonist’s return to crime is not a decision made lightly, but rather a necessity driven by circumstances that lead her to undertake a final high-stakes mission.
“Lucky follows a reformed criminal (Anya Taylor-Joy) who is forced to confront her past and return to illicit activities for one final job with the hopes of securing her freedom and leaving behind her former life once and for all,” Collider summarizes in its description of the series.
Currently, Apple TV+ has not announced whether Lucky will be renewed for a second season. However, with a strong cast and a well-known source material, speculation is already brewing that the series could continue if it performs well post-release.
For now, fans will have to wait until July 15 to see how the story unfolds, but Lucky is already poised to be one of the platform’s most anticipated new shows of the year.
