Hulu’s anticipated reboot of ‘The X-Files’ from filmmaker Ryan Coogler has announced a significant addition of guest stars. This latest casting update reveals that eight actors will join the series in supporting roles as the project progresses at Hulu.

The new guest cast includes Amy Madigan, Steve Buscemi, Ben Foster, Devery Jacobs, Lochlyn Munro, Tantoo Cardinal, Joel D. Montgrand, and Sofia Grace Clifton. They will join previously announced leads Himesh Patel and Danielle Deadwyler, who portray two FBI agents tasked with investigating cases involving the unexplained and unusual.

The reboot revolves around a revived FBI division that once dealt with strange and unexplained cases. Patel and Deadwyler’s characters, hailing from vastly different backgrounds, must collaborate and gradually develop an unexpected partnership while tackling the department’s mysteries.

Ryan Coogler is writing and directing the pilot, also serving as an executive producer through his Proximity Media banner. According to production credits, Chris Carter, the original series creator, is also on board as an executive producer. Jennifer Yale is the showrunner, with Sev Ohanian and Zinzi Coogler also serving as executive producers.

The project is produced under Onyx Collective and 20th Television. Several members of Coogler’s team, including Simone Harris and Dezi Gallegos, are involved in overseeing the development.

The newly announced guest cast features actors with impressive film and television backgrounds. Amy Madigan was recently seen in the horror film Weapons, while Steve Buscemi is renowned for his roles in series like Boardwalk Empire and Wednesday. Ben Foster has starred in films such as Hell or High Water, and Devery Jacobs is celebrated for her acclaimed role in Reservation Dogs, where she also contributed behind the scenes.

Other new additions include Lochlyn Munro, known for films like White Chicks, and Tantoo Cardinal, a veteran actress with an extensive career that includes Killers of the Flower Moon and Dances with Wolves. Joel D. Montgrand and Sofia Grace Clifton also join the ensemble, bringing recent television and film credits.

The original ‘The X-Files’ became a cultural phenomenon in the 1990s, celebrated for its blend of government conspiracy narratives and paranormal investigations. The new reboot seeks to carry on this legacy in a contemporary context while introducing a fresh cast and an updated storytelling approach under Ryan Coogler’s creative vision.
