Sebastian Stan has shared his thoughts on joining ‘The Batman Part II’, expressing his enthusiasm for collaborating with director Matt Reeves on this highly anticipated DC sequel.

In a recent interview, Stan characterized the film as ambitious, suggesting that the production aims to deliver something far grander than what audiences might anticipate. He believes the film has the potential to surprise fans significantly once all elements come together.

He stated, “It’s a challenge, like everything else. I feel like it’s a really ambitious movie and I think if we do it all right — and obviously I’m so excited about Matt Reeves because he’s been one of my favorites for a long, long time — I really think it’s going to blow people away. It’s going to surprise a lot of people, I think, too.”

Reports indicate that Stan is set to portray Harvey Dent, one of Gotham’s iconic characters who eventually transforms into the villain Two-Face in DC Comics.

The sequel will once again feature Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne and Batman, with returning cast members including Jeffrey Wright as Jim Gordon, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, and Colin Farrell as the Penguin. Barry Keoghan is also expected to reprise his role as the Joker.

Additionally, reports suggest that Scarlett Johansson will portray Gilda Dent, Harvey Dent’s wife, while Charles Dance is rumored to play Harvey’s father.

The narrative of ‘The Batman Part II’ is expected to delve deeper into Bruce Wayne’s character rather than focusing solely on Batman. The film will reportedly examine the escalating corruption and political strife within Gotham City, following the events of the first movie and the spin-off series ‘The Penguin’.

Stan also reflected on the enduring appeal of superhero narratives, noting that after his years in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Bucky Barnes, characters like Batman and Spider-Man resonate with younger audiences seeking to understand themselves.

He explained, “Obviously there’s a reason why Batman’s been re-occurring for so many years, and why so many kids love Spider-Man.” He emphasized that these stories can assist young people who feel different or isolated, saying, “It’s about a kid being odd and figuring his way into things. And it works in very subtle ways.”

‘The Batman Part II’ is currently slated for release on October 1, 2027, with filming expected to commence in mid-2026 in England and Scotland, following several delays related to script development.
