‘Ahsoka’ season 2 is officially in the works, but fans will need to be patient as the release has been pushed back. The new season is now slated to debut on Disney+ in early 2027, as announced by Rosario Dawson during Disney’s upfront presentation. This update confirms a delay from the previously anticipated release window of 2026.

Dawson, who portrays Ahsoka Tano, shared a brief message about what fans can look forward to when the series returns. She stated, “This season, the battles are bigger and the stakes are higher.” Her remarks were made during Disney’s presentation and subsequently reported by various entertainment media outlets.

The first season of ‘Ahsoka’ premiered in the summer of 2023, introducing viewers to a narrative set in the post-‘Return of the Jedi’ era of the Star Wars timeline. It followed Ahsoka Tano and Sabine Wren as they found themselves stranded in another galaxy, while Grand Admiral Thrawn emerged as a significant threat to the New Republic.

At the conclusion of season 1, Thrawn made his escape using a hyperspace jump, leaving Ahsoka and Sabine behind on a distant world. This cliffhanger established the central conflict for the upcoming season, which will continue the struggle between the New Republic and the remnants of the Empire.

According to information shared by Disney and series creator Dave Filoni, season 2 will expand on this conflict on a grander scale. Filoni appeared in a sneak peek during the presentation, where he and the cast discussed the forthcoming episodes. Based on their comments, the new season promises larger battles and more direct confrontations among key characters.

The upcoming season will also bring back several beloved Star Wars characters. Hayden Christensen will reprise his role as Anakin Skywalker, continuing his storyline with Ahsoka. Lars Mikkelsen returns as Grand Admiral Thrawn, and Eman Esfandi is back as Ezra Bridger. Rory McCann will also join the cast as Baylan Skoll, stepping in for Ray Stevenson following his passing in 2023.

Produced by Lucasfilm, the series follows the events of ‘The Mandalorian’ timeline and is part of the expansive Star Wars TV universe created under Dave Filoni’s guidance. Filming for season 2 took place in the United Kingdom from April to October 2025, as noted in production updates.

The new season will consist of eight episodes, continuing the narrative across multiple character arcs. It will focus on Ahsoka and Sabine’s quest to return home while confronting the escalating threat posed by Thrawn’s schemes in another galaxy.

Although season 2 was initially expected to premiere in 2026, the release has now been rescheduled for early 2027. This means fans will have to wait longer than anticipated to witness the next chapter of the saga.

Despite the delay, Disney and Lucasfilm assure fans that the upcoming season will be bigger and more intense, featuring higher stakes and more action throughout the galaxy.
