‘VisionQuest’ is an eagerly anticipated Marvel Studios miniseries that will delve deeper into the story of Vision within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Set to premiere on Disney+ on October 14, the series will consist of eight episodes and is part of Phase Six of the MCU, produced under the Marvel Television banner.

Created by Terry Matalas, who also takes on the roles of showrunner and director, the series picks up after the events of ‘WandaVision’, continuing Vision’s journey following his return in that series. In ‘WandaVision’, Vision was resurrected in a new form, lacking his full memories, and ‘VisionQuest’ explores his quest for self-discovery.

Paul Bettany reprises his role as Vision, portraying the reactivated “White Vision” who, despite regaining his memories, grapples with issues of identity and emotion. Production notes and interviews from Marvel Studios indicate that the series will focus on Vision’s efforts to reconnect with his past and comprehend the essence of being alive.

The series also sees the return of James Spader as Ultron, the artificial intelligence from previous MCU films who once sought to annihilate humanity. In ‘VisionQuest’, he will appear in both robotic and human forms. According to showrunner Terry Matalas, the dynamic between Ultron and Vision will be a central element of the narrative.

The cast features Todd Stashwick as Paladin, a bounty hunter pursuing Vision. Ruaridh Mollica portrays Tommy Maximoff, also known as Speed, linking the series to Wanda Maximoff’s family storyline. T’Nia Miller plays Jocasta, a vengeful robot character, while Emily Hampshire returns as E.D.I.T.H., an AI system first introduced in the Spider-Man films. Orla Brady voices F.R.I.D.A.Y., another AI associated with Tony Stark, and James D’Arcy reprises his role as J.A.R.V.I.S., one of Stark’s earliest AI creations.

Additional characters include Henry Lewis and Jonathan Sayer as the workshop robots D.U.M.-E and U. Faran Tahir also returns as Raza, a character from the original ‘Iron Man’ film. The supporting cast features Lauren Morais, Diane Morgan, Mary McDonnell, and Cristian Lavin. There are also unconfirmed reports suggesting Chris Pratt may make an appearance.

The development of ‘VisionQuest’ began in 2022 when Marvel Studios initiated work on a project centered around Vision. The series underwent several transformations before Terry Matalas assumed the role of showrunner in 2024. Filming took place in London from March to July 2025 at Pinewood Studios, as confirmed by production updates.

Marvel Studios has stated that the series will explore Vision’s internal conflicts as he interacts with various artificial intelligences within his mind, including both allies and adversaries, complicating his journey. The narrative will continue to address themes of identity, memory, and family, akin to previous MCU series.

As part of the broader MCU timeline, ‘VisionQuest’ continues the storyline following ‘WandaVision’, with ties to other Marvel projects. It is anticipated to play a significant role in the future of the franchise, particularly in Phase Six.

‘VisionQuest’ is set to be a pivotal release on Marvel’s Disney+ platform, expanding Vision’s story in a more personal and emotional direction when it debuts in October.
