Marvel Stars Paul Bettany, Robert Downey Jr. & Tom Hiddleston Reveal ‘VisionQuest’ Teaser
Marvel Studios treated fans to an exclusive first look at ‘VisionQuest’ during Disney’s Upfront presentation, featuring Paul Bettany, Robert Downey Jr., and Tom Hiddleston on stage to unveil the teaser.
The series is set to premiere on October 14 on Disney+ and continues Vision’s journey following the events of previous Marvel projects.
The teaser highlights Bettany’s character, Vision, in his “White Vision” form as he grapples with his identity. The footage shows him observing fragments of his past memories, reminiscent of scenes from a film. This iteration of Vision was reconstructed by S.W.O.R.D. after the events of ‘WandaVision’, and he now possesses memories that he struggles to emotionally comprehend.
The presentation also confirmed the return of James Spader as Ultron, who appears both as a voice and in a human-like form in the teaser. Ultron is depicted mocking Vision while referencing Vision’s connection to Tommy Maximoff, also known as Speed. Tommy makes a brief appearance in the footage, further linking to the Maximoff family storyline.
During the event, Bettany elaborated on the series’ concept, stating that Vision’s mind is not tranquil or void but rather filled with stored artificial intelligences and memories. He remarked, “One of the things that’s fun about that is that we finally get to see what it’s like inside Vision’s mind, and it’s more cluttered than you would think.” He further explained that Vision has been harboring various AIs within himself, which now shape his thoughts and emotions.
The cast includes several returning MCU AI characters alongside new roles integral to Vision’s journey. Alongside Bettany as Vision and Spader as Ultron, the series features Ruaridh Mollica as Tommy Maximoff / Speed, T’Nia Miller as Jocasta, Emily Hampshire as E.D.I.T.H., Orla Brady as F.R.I.D.A.Y., James D’Arcy as J.A.R.V.I.S., Henry Lewis as D.U.M.-E, Jonathan Sayer as U, and Todd Stashwick as Paladin. Faran Tahir also reprises his role as Raza, first seen in ‘Iron Man’.
The series continues Vision’s narrative after his rebirth as a memory-laden android navigating his identity crisis. It delves into his internal struggles, particularly his relationship with Ultron, who now coexists with other AIs in Vision’s mind.
Led by showrunner Terry Matalas, the project is part of Marvel’s Phase Six lineup. Production commenced in 2025 at Pinewood Studios in London and continued throughout the summer, with various directors helming different episodes.
Marvel Studios has confirmed that ‘VisionQuest’ will consist of eight episodes, serving as a continuation of Vision’s storyline across previous MCU films and series, further expanding his ties to both AI characters and the broader Marvel universe.
