A new ‘Star Wars’ book offers fans deeper insight into Rey’s decision to adopt the Skywalker name at the conclusion of ‘The Rise of Skywalker.’

This explanation is found in ‘Star Wars: The Secrets of the Jedi: The Chronicles of Luke Skywalker,’ a reference book authored by Marc Sumerak and published by Insight Editions. Released on May 12, the updated edition features new material related to the latest ‘Star Wars’ films, series, and publishing narratives.

Within the book, Rey contemplates her choice to carry the Skywalker name following Emperor Palpatine’s defeat. She articulates that her decision is linked to Luke Skywalker’s legacy and the battle he initiated against evil.

“I had to continue the fight and finish what he started. To stop Palpatine from rising again … And to proudly wear my Master’s name while doing so, in honor of his life and his sacrifice.”

Rey further emphasizes that the Jedi legacy transcends individual figures, uniting all who embrace the light side of the Force.

“Luke Skywalker may be gone from this plane, just like all the Jedi who came before him … but he will live forever. Because, in the end, I am all the Jedi. And maybe we all are.”

This new book serves as an updated version of the 2019 release ‘Star Wars: The Secrets of the Jedi.’ According to the publisher’s summary, the guide delves into the history of the Jedi Order through Luke Skywalker’s perspective and features insights about characters such as Obi-Wan Kenobi, Qui-Gon Jinn, and Ahsoka Tano.

Rey’s reflections provide fans with one of the most definitive explanations for her choice of the Skywalker name, a decision that sparked considerable discussion among ‘Star Wars’ fans following the release of ‘The Rise of Skywalker.’
