‘My Adventures With Superman’ Season 3 Trailer Released: Cyborg Superman and Superboy Join the Action
Since its debut on Adult Swim, few animated series have garnered the devoted following that ‘My Adventures With Superman’ has quietly built. This Warner Bros. Animation production offers a younger, emotionally grounded take on Clark Kent’s early years alongside Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen. The show has captivated audiences through its first two seasons by blending sharp character development with a distinct anime-inspired aesthetic.
Fans have been eagerly awaiting news of the show’s continuation since the second season wrapped nearly two years ago. Their patience has been rewarded, as Warner Bros. has confirmed that the series will return as part of the Toonami programming block. The release of the first trailer marks the end of a long wait for updates.
The new season is set to premiere on Adult Swim on Saturday, June 13 at midnight ET/PT, with episodes available for streaming the following day on HBO Max. The newly released trailer jumps straight into the action, providing a first look at Cyborg Superman, the transformed Hank Henshaw introduced in Season 2, who notably sports an “L” insignia, hinting at Lex Luthor’s involvement.
Showrunner Jake Wyatt emphasized to Entertainment Weekly that Hank Henshaw’s transformation into a villain is a central theme from the start, stating, “We’re Cyborg Superman right out the gate.” The season loosely draws inspiration from the iconic nineties comic arc ‘Reign of the Supermen,’ but Wyatt has made it clear that fans should not expect a straightforward retelling. He explained in an interview with Entertainment Weekly that the season focuses on the question, ‘What’s a Superman?’ and highlights the impostors with similar powers but differing values.
Joining the cast for Season 3 is Emmy-winning actor Darren Criss, who will voice Connor Kent, also known as Superboy. Criss brings valuable DC animation experience to the role, having previously voiced Superman in the Tomorrowverse films, including ‘Superman: Man of Tomorrow.’ The show’s version of Superboy has been adapted from his comic counterpart, with Wyatt noting that the character will embody the tension between hope in the present and fear in the future.
Steel, also known as John Henry Irons, will return this season, albeit in a lighter capacity. Wyatt hinted that a potential fourth season renewal could expand the character’s role significantly. Season 3 will also feature a brief cameo from Jessica Cruz, who is set to lead the previously announced spinoff series ‘My Adventures with Green Lantern,’ currently in development.
With the arrival of Cyborg Superman, a re-imagined Superboy, and the unfolding of the ‘Reign of the Supermen’ arc, Season 3 promises to be the most ambitious chapter yet. Whether you’ve been a fan since the beginning or are just discovering the series, share your thoughts on the trailer and let us know if this portrayal of Cyborg Superman meets your expectations based on the original comics.
