The Scooby-Doo franchise is taking an exciting turn with an upcoming anime-style series that transports the beloved mystery team into a unique setting. The new show, titled Yokoso Scooby-Doo, is a Tubi Original set in Japan. Tubi and Warner Bros. Animation have confirmed that the series will feature two iconic voices that long-time fans will instantly recognize.

Frank Welker will reprise his role as Scooby-Doo, while Matthew Lillard returns as Shaggy. Both actors have been integral to the franchise for many years, continuing their legacy with these iconic characters.

In this fresh storyline, Scooby-Doo and Shaggy embark on a trip to Japan for what is meant to be a delightful food adventure. However, their plans take a chaotic turn when they inadvertently unleash hundreds of mythical monsters throughout the country. What begins as a light-hearted journey quickly evolves into a full-blown mystery mission as strange creatures start appearing everywhere.

To tackle this unexpected situation, they are joined by a cast of new characters. Scooby’s uncle, Daisuke-Doo, teams up with a magical girl named Yume and a tech whiz called Takumi. Together, this eclectic group works to track down the monsters and restore order, blending comedy, action, and mystery along the way.

Tubi’s Chief Content Officer Adam Lewinson shared insights about the project in a statement released by the platform. He stated, “Scooby-Doo is one of the most beloved franchises in entertainment, and Yokoso Scooby-Doo lets us reinvent it in a way fans haven’t seen before. By bringing Scooby and Shaggy into a bold anime world set in Japan, we’re connecting with global fandoms and delivering the kind of fun, chaotic mystery that travels across generations. As we grow our animation slate, this is exactly our brand of fan-first storytelling—familiar, surprising, and unmistakably Tubi.”

The series is produced by Warner Bros. Animation, with additional support from OLM in Japan. Itsuro Kawasaki will direct the project, while Francisco Paredes serves as co-producer.

Frank Welker has been a part of the Scooby-Doo universe since its inception in 1969, becoming the voice of Scooby-Doo in the early 2000s. Matthew Lillard joined the franchise in the 2002 live-action Scooby-Doo film, where he portrayed Shaggy, and has continued to voice the character in subsequent projects.

With both actors returning, Yokoso Scooby-Doo promises to be a refreshing yet familiar take on the classic series, merging traditional mystery-solving with anime-style storytelling in a new global context.
