Eric Kripke Discusses Elon Musk Parody in ‘The Boys’ Series Finale
The finale of ‘The Boys’ has sparked significant online discussion, particularly after fans identified a parody related to Elon Musk. This conversation intensified when creator Eric Kripke publicly addressed the attention surrounding the episode.
In an interview conducted after the finale aired, Kripke shared insights on the inclusion of controversial elements in the series. This controversial material features a parody of Elon Musk, who finds himself in space during the final episode. He remarked, “Nothing but laughter and enjoyment. And I don’t know what conversations happen up at the higher levels. All I can tell you is they let me do it. Even if I’m just a court jester, they haven’t chopped off my head, and I’m grateful for that.”
The episode showcases a pivotal scene with Homelander and a billionaire character named Günter Van Ellis. Production materials released by Jeff Mosa from the show’s design team indicate that this character was inspired by Elon Musk. Fans quickly recognized this connection as concept art and reference images circulated on social media.
Within the narrative, Günter is depicted as a powerful billionaire linked to a secretive network of affluent individuals aiming to sway global influence. Another character, Oh Father, urges Homelander to collaborate with him, suggesting that such an alliance would enhance his control.
However, Homelander outright dismisses this notion.
Instead of aligning with billionaires or political figures, Homelander declares that he no longer desires anyone above or beside him. In one of the episode’s most significant moments, he asserts, “I don’t need anyone anymore. I don’t need billionaires,” before taking Günter into space and leaving him there.
This scene quickly became a focal point of discussion regarding the finale. Fans debated whether the show was directly mocking real-life tech billionaires or merely using recognizable public figures as a basis for its satire.
The production design materials further fueled the conversation. Jeff Mosa shared behind-the-scenes references online, including an image of Elon Musk that was reportedly utilized during the character’s creation. Many viewers interpreted it as an Easter egg rather than a direct imitation, but the comparison rapidly gained traction across social media.
The dialogue intensified after Elon Musk himself reacted online. A viral post criticizing the finale and Homelander’s fate caught Musk’s eye, prompting him to respond with a brief comment: “Pathetic.”
Kripke later addressed Musk’s reaction publicly, treating it as a compliment. He tweeted, “OMG this is his review of what @TheBoysTV did to Homelander, I’ll never get a better review ever.”
Musk then posted another response, admitting he hadn’t actually watched the show. He wrote, “I didn’t watch the show tbh, here’s the second best review… Kripke probably got flack from his wife’s bf for Homelander being used in based memes and had to write that ending as a groveling apology.”
This exchange quickly went viral, becoming another significant moment linked to the series finale. Fans debated whether the show effectively handled Homelander’s conclusion or pushed its political satire too far. Others defended the finale, praising the series for maintaining its bold style of commentary.
Over the years, ‘The Boys’ has established a reputation for blending superhero narratives with real-world political and celebrity references. The final season appears to uphold that tradition right to the end.

What began as a fictional storyline about Homelander rejecting powerful elites has swiftly evolved into a real-world internet debate involving one of the world’s most recognized billionaires. This reaction may be precisely the type of attention the series aimed to generate.
