Sebastian Stan has shared intriguing insights regarding his role in The Batman Part II, igniting considerable buzz among fans. His comments emerged during a recent interview where he delved into the film, his character, and the ambitious direction of the project. He highlighted the challenges and high aspirations surrounding the movie’s production.

Stan describes his role as complex, suggesting that it will involve more than just a straightforward portrayal. He hints that his character may experience various stages or identities throughout the narrative.

He stated, “I’m excited, I’m nervous and trying to keep surprising myself,” while discussing his work on the character of Two-Face and collaborating with the hair and makeup teams responsible for his disfigurement.

Reports indicate that Stan is set to portray Harvey Dent, a significant character from DC Comics who ultimately transforms into the villain Two-Face. Harvey Dent serves as one of Gotham City’s key legal figures before his tragic metamorphosis.

After a devastating accident that scars his face, he develops a dual personality and becomes Two-Face, a criminal who makes decisions based on chance through a coin flip. This duality likely aligns with Stan’s comments about playing “many roles in this one.”

Stan has previously mentioned the scale of this project compared to his past films.

He remarked that the creative team is aiming high, striving to create something much grander than audiences might anticipate. He elaborated, “It’s a challenge, like everything else. I feel like it’s a really ambitious movie and I think if we do it all right — and obviously I’m so excited about Matt Reeves because he’s been one of my favorites for a long, long time — I really think it’s going to blow people away. It’s going to surprise a lot of people, I think, too.” This information stems from his earlier discussions about the sequel’s direction.

The film will once again feature Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne in the The Batman universe, continuing the darker, more grounded depiction of Gotham City. Returning cast members include Jeffrey Wright as Jim Gordon, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, and Colin Farrell as the Penguin. Barry Keoghan is also expected to reprise his role as the Joker, although specifics about his character remain unclear.

There are also rumors that Scarlett Johansson may appear as Gilda Dent, Harvey Dent’s wife, and Charles Dance could portray Harvey’s father. While these details have not been officially confirmed, they are circulating in entertainment news.

The narrative of The Batman Part II is anticipated to delve deeper into Bruce Wayne’s character, not just Batman. It is expected to explore Gotham City following the events of the first film and the spin-off series The Penguin. The city is likely to face increasing instability, with rising corruption and political tension shaping the backdrop of the story.

Stan also shared his perspective on the enduring popularity of superhero stories. He believes that characters like Batman and Spider-Man resonate with audiences because they reflect the journey of individuals seeking their identity. He stated, “Obviously there’s a reason why Batman’s been re-occurring for so many years, and why so many kids love Spider-Man.” He added, “It’s about a kid being odd and figuring his way into things. And it works in very subtle ways.”

The Batman Part II is currently slated for release on October 1, 2027, according to studio plans. Filming is expected to commence in 2026 in England and Scotland, following delays related to script development.
