Chace Crawford Reveals 20-Year-Old Friend Reached Out for ‘The Boys’ Popcorn Bucket
Chace Crawford shared a humorous anecdote after unveiling a new The Boys season 5 prop that transforms his character, The Deep, into a popcorn bucket. This amusing moment occurred during his guest appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, where he showcased the quirky in-show merchandise inspired by his superhero role.
The item, dubbed the “Secrets of Atlantis” popcorn bucket, was presented on stage by Jimmy Fallon, eliciting a loud reaction from the audience. The bucket features The Deep’s face, with popcorn spilling from his open mouth, creating a blend of bizarre and comedic appeal.
Crawford remarked, “That is, it looks just like me, it’s crazy,” as he noted how accurately the design reflected his character from the Amazon series. He also highlighted the fact that the popcorn was actually placed inside the mouth of the bucket version of The Deep.
As Fallon reached in to grab some popcorn, Crawford laughed and exclaimed, “That’s embarrassing.” This light-hearted exchange resonated well with the studio audience, enhancing the playful atmosphere of the interview.
Despite the quirky nature of the prop, Crawford acknowledged its popularity among fans. He noted, “People really want” the bucket, indicating that this fictional item from the show had captured real-world attention. He even shared a surprising story, revealing that a friend he hadn’t spoken to in 20 years reached out to him asking for the bucket.
“I got a text from like a college buddy, 20-22 years ago, who I haven’t spoken to since, said, ‘I need that popcorn bucket”
The popcorn bucket made its debut in episode 6 of the latest season of The Boys. In this episode, the series humorously critiques movie theater culture and advertising, including a parody of AMC Theatres and its iconic Nicole Kidman promotional ad. The fictional cinema featured in the show is named VMC Theatres, a clear nod to AMC.
Within the storyline, the anti-supe group investigates a former Vought executive now involved in the cinema industry. During this plotline, viewers are treated to a satirical advertisement featuring Firecracker, who discusses the joys of moviegoing and Vought’s merchandise, including the new Deep popcorn bucket.
The in-universe advertisement cleverly mimics real-world marketing styles and captures the essence of well-known cinema commercials. It also promotes the popcorn bucket as part of a larger combo deal associated with a fictional movie titled Deep: Secrets of Atlantis.

Following the episode, Vought International’s official social media account joined in on the fun by promoting the popcorn bucket with a mock advertisement, stating, “Introducing the Deepest popcorn bucket ever created,” and adding, “Stick your hand in to get a fistful of hot, buttery popcorn ready to make your screening of Deep: Secrets of Atlantis even more dope.”
The post continued with another line, “Available exclusively at VMC Theatres, not included with ticket purchase!” This playful campaign contributed to the satirical world-building that The Boys is known for, blending real marketing techniques with its over-the-top superhero universe.
Fans quickly took to social media, sharing jokes and praising the concept. Many deemed it one of the most memorable fake movie tie-in products in the series to date, while others noted it perfectly encapsulated what a corporate superhero world would realistically sell.
